Lamine Yamal The Wonder Kid

Yesterday's match between FC Barcelona and Inter Milan had me wondering how good a player Lamine Yamal is at this present time in football. It's just crazy to think at 16, Lamine Yamal was already part of the first team squad for Barcelona and also part of the Spain men's national team, which was the main factor that led Spain to win the 2024 Euros competition. It is rare to see young players breaking out that early into the first team; even the all-time greats like Messi and Ronaldo were not this good at the age of 17 if we are being honest.

Lamine Yamal marked his 100th appearance for Barcelona last night which is a milestone for a 17-year-old. It is incredible what Lamine Yamal is doing at this stage of his career, and honestly, when he started making waves, I just thought it was just a fluke and soon it would pass away, but now it is not a fluke as this young lad is already dominating football at the early stage of his career. La Masia has one of the best academies in the world because the way talented young players keep breaking into the first team every year is becoming a usual thing for the academy.

This statement may seem too far but I am starting to consider that Lamine Yamal could win the Ballon d'Or this year. There is no doubt again that he is a strong contender, but now there is a likely possibility he could win the award. It is not just about stats alone, but what that young lad has accomplished in a year is incredible and needs to be talked about more in the media. Lamine Yamal has a Euros title to his name with the national team, plus he has already won two trophies with Barcelona this season.

Then there is the Champions League and Laliga title still in line for the youngster to win this season, and If Barcelona wins both trophies, it will give him an incredible boost for the award. Raphinha is most likely to win the Ballon d'Or this year with the stats he has in the bag, but Lamine Yamal bags his little stats with trophies and turns up in big important moments for club and country, and although Raphinha also does the same; he doesn't have an international trophy with Brazil.

This is just my opinion, as I won't be the one to select the Ballon d'Or winner this year, but if we are logical, Lamine Yamal could win the award. This month will give us a little answer on who will walk out with the Ballon d'Or as it is the deciding month for Barcelona league and Champions League dream win. It is now or nothing for Barcelona this season, as they have to give in everything they got to win the two remaining titles this season, and I look forward to seeing how everything plays out at the end of the month. So guys this is where I say goodbye. Thanks for stopping by and have a good evening.
