CAN PLATFROMS DETERMINE USERS BEHAVIOUR
One of major arguments against Hive social dapps users is that most of them are bad actors who only want to pillage the ecosystem by putting little or not effort in their creative work. Although this negative is partly true, I believe the onus is on the platfrom/DAPP to define users behaviour.
Every platfrom has itself culture and users who want to succeed in that space have to align with the values of that space. On Tiktok the platfrom promotes creativity; On X emphasis is placed on engagement. So I ask: what's is the Hive culture? To be more specific what are the dapps' culture?
The second important thing to the success of a platfrom is its reward system. On a platfrom like X I know if I engage in a short time I will gain visibility and potentially monetise my content. In a nutshell every platfrom has a promise and those who adhere to the platfrom's get rewarded, those who don't gain no visibility and in some cases get deplatfromed.
Unfortunately there isn't any clear pathway for creators on Hive. I will argue that most dapps are looking for coin holders and investors not creators. The dilemma here is that creators do not want to hold the token per se and how stakeholders react to this is by sidelining creators and rewarding holders. The problem with this approach is that most holders tend to discard the creative progress by putting out shitty or semi-shitty content, this then become the standard for the platform.
Now, the problem is shitty content but that it is rewarded and that is bad for optics. When a visitor lands on any DAPP they do not see anything worthwhile, so they leave. How do we combat this issue? The answer is simple: create a system based on merit.
Writ can only be established when there are guidelines and metric to distinguish between good and bad actors. On web 2 platfrom's ALGORITHM are put in place to promote and demote content based on several metrics.
It is important that I stress that Dapps cannot grow if the social media services they offer are not enjoyable and by that I mean engagement.
Another thing I want stakeholders to understand is that people are not as stupid. They very well understand the dynamics of the platfrom and if that changes they will adjust their effort. The reality is Hive has become too profitable for people who put low effort, and there is no way to improve the standard if we do not stop rewarding such entities/activities.
A platfrom is as good as its reward system. I will continue to speak on this matter until there are changes in the system. This is my own contribution to the Hive ecosystem, and I stand confirm on the notion that a platfrom/DAPP can influence users behaviour.

I agree with you and I would love to know your thoughts on LEO. Because I interpret what they are doing now, and are planning to do in the future, goes a long way to meet the changes that you ask for. Also, from their recent Hivefest presentation, they seem to encourage others to follow with their own dapps that can offer different reward models.
Interesting times!
