Where My Peace Hides

Peace of mind is a luxury! A lot of us find peace in different things; it could be nature, it could be personal achievement, or it could also be a particular hobby or even simple pleasures. But then, there is one thing that seems insignificant to others; it may seem weird too, but it gives me peace of mind, and in this prompt, I will tell you about it.

How do you feel seeing your laundry basket 🧺 so empty? Maybe it's irrelevant to you or even sounds weird, but personally seeing my laundry basket empty gives me a heavenly relief and brings peace of mind to my soul. In my home, if you like, wash cloths daily, there will still be heaps of cloths piling up and glaring at me, waiting for my tired fingers to do some scrubbing, lol. That's expected where children are still tender, although I am already teaching my kids how to wash their simple clothes, socks, pants, etc.

Some weeks can get so crazy, leaving no room for me to do my daily laundry, and then over the weekend, it will look as if I opened a laundry shop. Whenever I walk past those dirty clothes piled up, I will just sigh and keep going, but my inner spirit wants to get that chore done and enjoy peace of mind, but at the same time, a lot of things are demanding my attention. I have a washing machine, though, but it's the manual type. It's still stressful to use, and sometimes I ignore it and do my washings with my hands. I don't like the idea of the manual washing machine, washing clothes, and I start removing the clothes one after the other, drain the water, rinse, and hang. To me, it feels like there is almost no difference between washing with hands and with buckets. Let this bull run in the crypto market just happen so I can get an automatic washing machine that can wash, rinse, and dry my clothes for me—soft life kind of...lol.

But for now that I still face my unending laundry with my hands, I feel this sense of peace of mind seeing that empty laundry basket. I will tell myself, "Nkem, you are doing well; that's one victory won over many house chores. Keep going, gal," hehehe.

So I ask, what's that one thing that seems insignificant to others but gives you peace of mind? Could it be a well-charged phone battery or a coffee, or whatever?

Such a thing don't give me peace of mind but I can guess why it can give you mental peace. I think most of the housewives may understand you better in this case.
