Vaccines, Myths, and the Truth I’ve Come to Know
Despite how vaccinations have saved lots of lives in our world today, it's surprising to see that this concept is still faced with many crazy theories, myths, and fears. A lot of people still have problems with this thing called a vaccine to the point that they don't even accept immunizing their newborn no matter how much you try to get them to see the vital reasons with you.
Sometimes, I choose not to blame anyone who thinks otherwise about vaccines due to the level of knowledge such a person is exposed to. But the truth is that people suffer negative effects from something out of ignorance, right? So there is the need for one to stay informed rightly. Ignorance can never be an excuse. The negative effects we suffer most times don't care if you have the right knowledge or not.
Vaccination is very vital, and personally, I don't joke with them. I have seen pregnant women suffer due to lack of getting vaccinated during pregnancy, and I have seen children suffer the same too. I set my calendar rightly to ensure I don't miss any of my kids vaccinations until they are five years old, as instructed by WHO. Sometimes, the government comes up with one prevalent disease spreading in the air and instructs the health workers to immunize children from 0 to 5 years, and it's always a YES for me. The health workers go round schools giving vaccines to children with parents permission anyways.
Having said that, there are many crazy theories I've heard about getting vaccinated! One of them is that the vaccine is a sign of the mark of 666 written in the Bible. Like, so crazy! People believe that once you are vaccinated, it becomes a mark from demons, and that means you are going straight to hellfire, lol, and so they stand firm and say no to vaccination. I mean, what happened to making research, for crying out loud?
Does the vaccine cause infertility? That's another crazy conspiracy that I can't fathom where it is coming from. People experience life challenges, then connect the dot to the vaccine they took as a child and tag it as the cause of their problems. To the best of my knowledge, vaccines are meant to prevent, not to cause damage, but people are misinformed when they have shallow knowledge over a particular thing.
And then there was the popular conspiracy during the Covid era about using vaccines to depopulate our world. If I should be sincere, I believed this one to some extent back then, and that was the only vaccine I heard about that I didn't take. I was skeptical, especially seeing how serious our government was about it and the restrictions they placed on it for people traveling outside the country: no vaccine, no access to any country outside Nigeria. Fear gripped me, and I wrongly concluded that indeed, the government was out to reduce the world's population. No one wants to die, including me, lol, but now I know better.
In conclusion, we can't go wrong in doing important research. When it's about something to help our health, it makes sense that we seek a deeper knowledge instead of following the crowd to say NO to vaccination. Remember, prevention is always better than cure!

Many are just there risking the life of their children in the of one excuse or the other know to them. Is very bad because these children end up suffering it at the end just like that of polio vaccine, missing it is so dangerous just like other ones too, you can see a child walking normal of a sudden go crippled just because parents fail their duty due to one rubish believe or the other, that is wickedness to the highest core
My dear, it's high time people feed their minds with important information. Ignorant is never an excuse !
Never at all
Making proper research instead of relying on what people say alone will save us from following the crowd to believe sometimes that is not right/true.
I have heard of all those myths about vaccines, I even thought it was peculiar to my people, I didn't know it's widely spread. How can vaccines make someone infertile? People Sha.
You know I refused to get vaccinated during COVID-19 because I heard it was targetted to reduce our population, I think in my family, it was only my mother who got vaccinated.
Haa, ur mum even got it .no one got it in my house.lol
We were just scared of the unknown but that's by the way ..
We can never go wrong with vaccines
While I was pregnant I never missed my vaccines I remember some women were laughing at me when I went back after delivery to get my last Tt dosages but I know the importance of it so I don't joke with it. Even that of my children, we didn't miss any vaccines on our card
You see that TT, dose, it took the life of my uncle's wife .she refused to take it ..and during labour, she convulsed until she died
So pity
Ignorant eehh
Oh no that so sad.. I'm glad I took all my dose
The crazy theories surrounding vaccines especially here in Africa is a lot and some are just ridiculous when you hear of it.
Many people have lost loved ones because of their reluctance to allow the medical practitioners give vaccines. The thing baffles me. Is it not better they ask questions?
Some People chose to assume rather than asking vital questions and be rightly informed
It is what it is
Yeah and that refusal to ask questions usually lands them in trouble.
You're so right ma, many of these vaccine myths are just fear in disguise. It's painful to see people reject something that could save lives simply because of misinformation. Research really is key. Prevention will always be better than cure.
Pure fear oo..like fear for nothing , and in turn some ppl suffer it .
Research can save!
Vaccination is very important and I think every should get vaccinated unless it's a newly invented vaccine. I am specially referring to the COVID-19 vaccine. I have doubt on it. I have strong belief that the vaccine came to us without completing all the steps.
!PIZZA
Hmmm
I can't say much about the covid vaccine but most of our fears never happened . Those that took it are still sound without any negative effect
