This One Event πŸ₯³

Yesterday's event was an eye-opener. At first, I was skeptical about joining the women's group in our parish, and the reason is simply because I don't like to tie a wrapper πŸ˜ƒ. However, one of the rules with this women's group is that no woman is permitted to dress otherwise except to tie a wrapper in accordance with our standard uniform.

I have from afar been watching these women engage in diverse activities, both in physical fitness and in seminars that help build their homes, learning skills, going for medical outreach, and so on, yet the issue of tying wrappers held me from joining them for years since I became a mother until now that I decided to let go of this mentality (wrappers are meant for old mamas...lol) and do the needful. It's been a win-win so far!

So yesterday I was privileged to attend an event hosted to educate us (women) on building our careers and diversifying our knowledge on many things for a better tomorrow. Gone are the days when women only looked after their husbands wealth and assets; now we are being encouraged to stay relevant in our families and society at large. A lot of knowledge was exposed to us, not excluding tips on how to handle our home and ensure it is always peaceful to thrive in. Honestly, I wish I had joined this group earlier because so far, it's been value added from one event to another.

There is one thing that usually happens at each of these women's events I attend, and that is expanding my social network. A lot of our members are into different careers and skills. Currently, I got so close with one of the women who is a tech guru. She works both as a project manager and data analyst remotely and physically. She has been teaching me some things, guiding me right on how I can land a remote job with a client outside my country. It's what she has been doing for many years ago and living well. I am wondering where I would have met this woman if I didn't take the decision of joining this women's group.

One of the reasons why I kept withholding having a little party in my home since I relocated to Lagos is because I don't have a larger circle here who can grace the occasion. But then, recently, I have been building my social connection with quality people who keep adding value to my life. I have made good friends through this women's group too, friends who share ideas and experiences as we keep learning together. It's a win-win. This morning, one of us sent me info that perhaps I couldn't have gotten with money, lol.

Overall, each event usually comes with added value, fun and exciting times together, as well as an opportunity to unwind, eat, drink, and dance away our worries. Looking forward to an upcoming event in August, this time, it will be a colab with other uncommon womenπŸ₯³

It's a prove to a scripture "Do not forsake the gathering of your brethren".
I wish I can always network like this in physical event too. I think I'm only good in connecting with people virtually

Ndinne mama! you look good in the uniform 😍 and the meal is inviting.
A lot of young women are also skeptical about joining these groups because of stories heard in the past.
I'm glad you were able to join a group that adheres to scriptural admonition and help women build their homes.

That kind of event are for women empowerment and I think it's good for women to join such a event as they can learn many things from others and it can help them to be self dependent.
It seems it was quite helpful to you as you are gaining some knowledge from others.
