The Habit That Saved Me

There is a lifestyle I learned recently through my spiritual mentor. One day, she shared a very sensitive experience of hers with me on a simple journey she made and encouraged me to never step out of my house casually but to talk to the Holy Spirit to lead me safely no matter how short my destination is.

Of course I welcome such mentorship and have strived to implement it always. Once I enter our private car or a public bus or even a bike, I say a short prayer sincerely and trust God to preserve my life.

On the highway that passed my residence, a lot of accidents have been happening recently; it's been back-to-back, and the way it has been claiming lives looks so strange. I said it looked strange because most times, passersby standing on their own waiting to cross the road are the victims there.

The other day, it was a private car; the driver cleared from the road and parked, probably waiting for someone, but there were three people inside the vehicle. Could you believe a trailer failed brake from the other side of the road, jumped the pavement, and crushed the parked vehicle, leaving the driver dead and the two other people inside the vehicle heavily injured with blood gushing out from their heads?

Another surprising observation is that these accidents have been at a particular spot. I don't know what about that spot, but at least I have witnessed three kinds of accidents in that particular spot.

What happened today as we were returning back from church was still a mystery. I am speechless to explain how everything happened within a twinkling of an eye in that same area. My husband struggled with the steering a lot before we escaped the accident that nearly befell us. I couldn't stop screaming and thanking God after escaping the supposed tragedy.

You see, as simple as we think a prayer can be, it can go a long way in saving our lives. There is no need to rush out and meet negative uncertainties; just say those silent prayers. It works; I am a living testimony. I have learned to make it a continuous lifestyle as long as I can't protect myself but God.

We can't be careful enough when the devil is set to strike, but when we involve God, victory is guaranteed.
