The Balance Between Friendship and Family: Navigating Relationships and Priorities

Family and friends have proven to be pillars of support in diverse areas of human life. We can't thrive alone, and this is why we need each other to survive. I have experienced unconditional love from my family. I have experienced genuine care,emotional and financial support from friends and family, and I will boldly say that I am blessed to have the kind of family I have and so privileged to have such amazing friends around me.

When I was still an office worker, there was this interpersonal relationship that existed between my colleagues and me. This relationship made my working experience so much easier than it should have been. Good friends understand each other and are ready to provide support when needed, thereby making life easier. It's interesting how this relationship still exists between us even after many years of leaving my job. Several times, this colleague of mine has offered me help because they remembered the past. On my own, I still assist them whenever the need arises. Talk about my virtual friends; their positive influence in my life has been admirable, and I begin to wonder what would have become of me if I did not have friends.

Family is everything, and having supportive friends around us helps as well. I have gotten information that has impacted my life positively through friends. I received several pieces of support from friends—the kind of support that, if I should pen everything down, then this post will not end today. My family, on the other hand, has been a great support since I was born. What a good combo to have both nice family and friends around us. Some people may feel that because they have a nice family, there's no need for friends, but I feel that the importance of friends and family in our lives cannot be overemphasized.

As much as I understand the importance of friendship and keep amazing friends around me, I do not allow my relationship with friends to influence the bond that exists between my family and me. I value my real friends and consider them my second family, but prioritizing friends over family is what I found weird, which some people do perhaps due to personal reasons or family issues. However, I feel that since families are groups of people related by blood, the bond between family members should be inseparable regardless. It becomes important to settle family issues and maintain a great bond with our families. As much as our families are important to us, so should our good friends too, as both give us that listening ear and care when the need be. I have seen some people who connect more with friends than their family members due to a lack of bonding and attention from family members; however, it's expected that we demonstrate strong connections and relationships with family before extending them to our friends.

How much we create with our families matters, as it helps to increase the bond that exists between us for a healthier relationship. As much as we should create time to hang out with friends, there's need to connect with family first, This is my own viewpoint anyway. I love socializing with my friends, and I love spending time on the beach with friends, but I do not fail to create quality family time for more bonding, more connection, and a better lifestyle for my family and me.
