One Crisis After Another

The petrol saga currently in my country is so frustrating. Ever since I was born, this is the first time I have seen petrol and diesel prices hike this much. And with the current fuel prices, our household budgets are already altered drastically; the situation has already pushed the cost of transport and food prices on the increase, and manufacturing is now so expensive, including me producing sachet water.

Each day, the different materials we use increase by 70% of their former price. Our drivers complain bitterly that they can no longer carry the water at the factory price unless it is reduced. Meanwhile, we are spending high while the cost of water hasn't received an increase. The drama currently is real. School buses are sending mail to parents over additional fees, and office workers are crying that the transport is eating deep into their salary and it's not healthy for this present economy.

I think I lack words to describe what we are going through currently. From the news I read, I discovered that what we are going through currently has to do with the Iran war, and I couldn't stop screaming at this reality. Whatever, I am still waiting for our government to act on this; the reality is so harsh and unfavorable. Imagine waking up to see that the bad situations we have been managing are getting worse each day. Can you imagine that? Soon, we might reach our elastic limit, and that would be terrible to experience.

Nigerians are known for their resilience in nature; we always navigate through tough times, but I am scared at these current happenings. Will this be temporary? I hope this doesn't last long because if it does, I am scared. My family too aren't finding it easy currently; we are just trusting God to see us through, but then, the situation is not helping matters. We need help in this country; it's always from one trouble to another.

I stepped out this morning and found out that INEC is conducting voter card registration. Only a few people are there registering, and I wouldn't blame anyone because after all the registering and voting, will our vote count? That's the question. I am always voting, and I will still vote come 2027 for our next presidential election because all we need is teamwork to see that the right people are elected into the government.
