NAVIGATING THE COMPLEXITIES OF THE HIVE BLOCKCHAIN

IMG_20240126_105839.jpg

In my early days on Hive, I found the blockchain so complicated to navigate through. I expected the platform to be very simple, like what I see in Web 2, but then it was a different case. I have spent a little over two years in the chain, and I can say that when it's about Hive, we cannot stop learning.

Hive is too vast and takes time to learn about many things, but the truth is that if you give it your time, you will get to understand many things about the blockchain; the true value lies in experiencing the platform.

There are many things that took me a while to understand on Hive when I began my blogging journey in this space. One of them was the use of different front ends.

I have spent nine months here blogging consistently without knowing that other front ends exist aside from Peakd; however, I kept seeing some posts with this statement at the end: "posted using Leo Finance i.o., posted using Neoancity," and the like. I was wondering how the authors included that in their post. One day, I tried to include it too on my post, but it didn't appear in blue like the ones I saw, and I kept wondering until one day, someone boosted my post using ecency points, and when I received the tag, I was like, which one is ecency again? I started asking questions until I discovered that there are different front ends through which one can access the hive blockchain, aside from the one I know, which was peakd.

It's interesting to know that Hive offers different DAPPs through which we can access the chain. It's left for the user to explore and use anyone convenient for him or her, and the good thing is that we can earn tokens for using some of the front ends to publish our articles or to engage with them. Today, I no longer use only Peakd for my hive activities. The common front ends I use are inleo, ecency, neoxiancity, and peakd.

Another important thing that took me a while to understand was the use of tags. Imagine copying and pasting other people's tags on my post, whether they're relevant or not, just because of my ignorance. Oh no! Hahaha. I didn't know the wonders of using the right tag then. I wouldn't say that I know it all now, but I am better. However, one important thing you should know, which I know now, is that the use of the right tags brings visibility to your post. It attracts the right audience aside from your hive followers to your blog, and focusing on what the topic is all about is the best way to choose your tags aside from the general tags you can use all the time. For instance, if I wrote about food and vegetables, then my tags should be something like food or foodie, vegetable or veggies, etc., and then I can add general tags such as hive-engine, pob, vyb, pimp, neoxian, etc.

Back then, as a newbie, I was writing articles related to finance without using the Leofinance tag until I was taught, then I used it and received Leo voter upvotes, even though the use of the right tags does not guarantee curation, I was super excited that day. This is one example of the wonders of tags; curators "may" find your post with the right tag.

The hive keychain is one other thing I found so difficult to understand and use then. The more people tell me about it, the more I get angry about how it's too much to learn here. But then, all these are not as difficult as we think. It's just a matter of downloading the app and then linking your hive keys to it, and it makes every transaction so easy. Through the hive keychain, I learned about the use of bee swaps. converting my swap.hive in the hive engine to a liquid hive. I must say that the beginning of this adventure wasn't easy, but when I opened my heart to learn it, I found it simpler than I thought.

Currently, there is still more knowledge to explore in hive, but I am taking it one step at a time, asking questions where I am not clarified for a better understanding. Learning never ends, indeed, but it becomes easier with an open mind.

See what ignorance did to Nkem 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 as an individual on Hive, if you don't take your time to understand this platform, one would just be confused and frustrated in the end. About the Leo tag, I was ignorant too as I never knew one could use their tags on finance post I already made but never knew to post in their community. For a lot of things here, it took me long time to understand how they worked. Once we are active and paying attention too, we will come to be open to lots of experiences and learnings.

The blockchain is indeed a vast platform for one's continuous learning. My wife faced a very similar challenge. I am luck to have her around to guide me in many things. As you said, the learning continues. Kudos @nkemakonam89

Frontend is a thing which I used without knowing I used several frontend 🤣. Later I realized about it.

Tagging is a thing I didn't notice in the beginning time 🙂.

You were even smart enough to have been using different front ends at your early time on hive just that you didn't realise what it was

The Tag looks like many people's trouble, lolz

Have you started your exams? Good morning intishar
