My Proudest Moments: Staying True to My Core Beliefs - LOH #251
Looking back over my life, there are moments that tested me, reshaped me, and even helped me understand better my core values. They are my proudest moments, those moments where I stayed true to my core beliefs in life, which are respect, love, kindness, forgiveness, and lots more! Without further ado, stay with me as I share a few of my practical life experiences in this regard.
One of those moments when I stayed true to my core beliefs was during the early years of my marriage when my voice was constantly silenced. When I had no say but bottled up my emotions and kept enduring things I shouldn't have to. I value respect a lot.
I love it more when we do things together as friends that have common goals and not one authoritative kind of leadership that I was getting from my husband, but then, at a point, I strived to fix things. I told myself that I can't continue living such a way, and I respectfully spoke up, and my voice gave me the freedom that I crave.
Looking back to those years and how we work together nowadays with unity, I will just smile and say indeed, silence is not always the best solution to certain situations in life.
Again, parenting can be quite overwhelming sometimes, but then, I had a bad experience growing up with my grandma in certain aspects of my life. I felt that love was far away from her to me; all I received constantly was name-calling over my little mistakes and some words that always hurt to the point that I began to think it's the normal way of parenting a child.
I was afraid that I would pass the same cycle to my children initially, but I must say that another proud moment of mine has been the way I am nurturing my boys. Instead of name-calling with those hurtful words, I use affirmative words rather because I feel that everyone deserves love.
Even those little hearts deserve some kindness and love; they deserve to be nurtured in a way that they won't grow up to reflect on the wounds inflicted on their hearts as children. Initially , it was a hassle getting things right but it became my proudest moments when I finally did ; my driving force was love , I guess it's the ultimate.
Have you ever made an impact in the life of someone and felt this inner fulfillment within? I was proud to be an agent of change in the life of a friend and assisted her greatly in achieving her dreams. It was that proud moment I stayed true to my core belief: holding onto kindness, realizing that I shouldn't just exist but make impacts in people's lives no matter how small it appears to be.
Now, I look back to different proud moments of my life so far, including the ones I didn't mention here, and I see that they came when I stayed true to my core beliefs, which are respect, love, kindness, and others. I don't think those experiences came so easy peasy, but they look like more than achievements to me. I feel at peace staying true to these core values of mine and seeing results, and that matters.

That's right
Standing firm in your convictions isn't easy at all; on the contrary, it's very difficult, and no one will ever understand. It feels good to have that peace that comes from the satisfaction of having done what you believe is best for everyone.

They say the early years of most marriages are the most challenging part. I'm happy you learn how to manage things and get the best out of each other.
I love your core values, and truly, every child deserves to be raised with love and kindness. I'm sorry about your experience with grandma, and I'm super proud of you for raising your kids in a better way.
Yea...it's usually challenging until things blend well , also through our effort..
Of course kids needs love , they might not say it currently but will grow yo remember how they were treated...it's an intentional effort honestly , not easy in any way
Thanks for the compliment

After marriage many women think their word doesn't matter and their husbands are not supportive. But in reality their husbands are supportive but both of them don't have a conversation about that. You need to speak if you feel uncomfortable. Husband are not the fortunate teller to understand everything 😅. In case of raising kids I think you are doing good.
