Mothers' endless responsibilities

The endless responsibilities of motherhood sometimes leave me feeling stressed and overwhelmed, but I try to embrace the journey with joy. I must admit that motherhood duties aren't an easy task, especially for international parents who want to raise responsible kids. What gives me the strength and courage to continue even when I feel overwhelmed is my desire to see my children great and responsible tomorrow, and so I keep doing my best amidst the chaos of daily life. To love and care for them, correct them when they derail, encourage them, and constantly connect with them is my responsibility as a mom.

When you are not only facing the usual teachings of the kids, training, and all of that but also face a routine health clinical visit, it becomes an added stress to mom's life. Since January 1, 2024, I have been on several hospital trips for my first child.

He has been seeing a neurologist for some issues with the brain. Each of our visits to the hospital is always stressful and takes lots of resources. It takes us 5 hours to get to the destination. How far the distance is. If only we had lots of specialists in every hospital here in Nigeria, but no, you will have to travel miles away to see a good doctor. I do not mind since the good health of my son is my top priority. The medication he takes daily became so expensive recently, like five times the cost before, and the whole thing became a concern. Luckily, the neurologist reviewed him and changed his medication to another, which seems a bit affordable. He has been under close monitoring since this year, and I have been trying to adhere to all the precautionary measures taken by the doctor to see that my child continues to be well and live a normal life like other children.

There's always a lot to deal with on my end as a mom. I am blessed with three kids, and each of them is indeed my responsibility to walk them through the journey of life. Their morals and their academic activities are loads of work to deal with. Sometimes, I feel like taking days to just rest without attending to responsibilities, but it looks impossible, right? Haha. Perhaps when the kids reach a certain age, the workload will reduce. Balancing motherhood and Carrer too isn't easy. While trying to work and earn to support my family, along with my daily motherhood responsibilities, it weighs me down most of the time. I have also realized that my health is important, thereby reducing my workload per day in order to stay strong and healthy for my kids.

As much as the responsibilities seem unending, the need to find balance remains vital.
