Holding Each Other Through the Storm

So far, it's been a year with lots of things unfolding for me each week, both good and bad. That's life after all; our creator never promised us life with free challenges, but then, we will always strive to navigate them.

However, there are some challenges that are way more severe than others. The loss of our loved ones always comes with diverse emotions. It's one challenge I pray to God always to take away from me and mine. This year alone, two of my good friends lost their child, while another one lost her junior brother. It's been from one condolence visit to another, and it hasn't been funny.

Imagine losing a grown-up son? After bonding with your child for a good 7 years in life, one day, death snatches him away from you over a little illness.I lacked words to console my friend, but being there for her always is something I never joked with.

Today, she feels better, healing gradually, attending activities in the church, and reclaiming her life once again. Surprisingly, she was the one who called me this morning over a condolence visit for one of our friends who lost her baby last week during childbirth. She was ready for us to go console the mom over the loss. Hearing that from her made me feel relieved; at least she is strong enough to go console another.

When we reached there this morning, she was using herself as an example to this mom, encouraging her to take heart. In all of these, I am happy that those of us, who call ourselves friends can actually create time to be there for one another regardless. I was satisfied observing this show of love from my friends and me to each other ; after all, a friend in need is a friend indeed.

As for the mom, my friend Who lost her child during birth; she said she noticed that the baby wasn't kicking anymore. According to her, she did a scan just 6 days ago, and everything was fine. Only for her to wake up and realize that her baby in the womb wasn't kicking; she rushed back to the hospital to check and discovered that the water in the womb preserving her baby had dried up.

She was induced immediately to birth the baby, but behold, the baby was dead already. The whole story was strange to me because she didn't see her water breaking and leaking as a pregnant woman, and I don't know how the water dried up all of a sudden. Seeing the many new baby items she had already bought, she kept crying nonstop.

Life is filled with ups and downs indeed, but in all, I pray we have supportive family and friends and God above all who will always be there for us in our low moments.
