Fostering Creativity: Artistic Adventures with My Kids

I wasn't a great artist when I was younger. Anything that has to do with drawing, crafting, or painting gave me issues back then as a child. I remember pleading with my classmates to help me out with my assignments. Oh no! I would have pushed further, but I lacked interest in art, and no one was there to encourage me or push me into doing the needful with my mates in school.

It's interesting to see that my kids have a sweet interest in art at this early age, including my last baby of 2 years and older. I admire the little creativity they unleash sometimes in carrying out the simple projects they are giving in school, and so we have been on artistic adventures with simple projects. Who knows, they might be able to do something better as they continue to grow and get more exposed to the world of the arts proper.

Prior to this particular project here, my kids were always looking for something to draw, craft, or paint. Sometimes I doubt what my second son come up with. His little creativity in drawing is something applaudable. The aesthetics he usually gave his drawings, applying different colors at strategic places, makes me wonder if there's anything in him that tells him what to do.

Past project

Inspire your heart with art is a program designed to take place on January 31, 2024, at my son's school.
The goal of the initiative is to ignite the creative inspiration within the students by encouraging them to explore the various art forms such as drawing, crafting, painting, molding, etc. So parents were asked to support the kids in creating their unique artwork of their choice, and as they explore the arts, it will leave beautiful memories for us all. So each student will create any art work of their choice, and the exhibition will take place in school, next tomorrow. What I did was enquire from my sons about the kind of art work they can do, the one that wouldn't need any serious assistance, and they chose craft. My first son did the flower vase, while my second son did the fish 🐟 It was a nice experience with them, and I will show you some steps they took in crafting the fish and the vase.

Material used

Cardboard papers
A4 paper
Glue
Pencil ✏️
Crayon 🖍️
Scissors ✂️

First, we used the A4 paper to cut out the same shape of the cardboard so it could become easier to craft the shape of the fish.

The next thing my son did was draw the fish on rough paper first before the main craft. I guess he wanted to perfect himself a bit before trying the main project, which is nice.

While he was on the fish project, his siblings were drawing and painting; you could see some busy bees up there. So after the rough drawing, he traced the shape of the fish on the new cardboard paper and carefully cut it according to the shape.

The fin and the scale were cut out separately, and with the help of glue, I guided him to attach them one after the other.

The next part of the fish to work on was the eye, but I ran out of ideas on what to use. Surprisingly, my son suggested we should cut out a tiny piece of white paper while he used his pencil to color it black. Wow, I keyed into this creative idea, and boom, it made sense.

So here is our craft work: we used a piece of cardboard as the base for reinforcement. Additionally, my son labeled his name on it, ready to submit it for the art exhibition coming up next tomorrow. I have no doubt that he will do a nice presentation, as he was fully involved in the project.

My other son thought of what to do and finally came up with the flower vase. It was on one of their past question papers that he saw the diagram and thought of crafting it. It didn't take him long to figure out what to do. I wasn't involved in his own work; I watched him from afar and saw the finished product here.

I think it's a nice try as well. I could see traces of pencil on the vase while he cut out the shape later, worked on the flower, colored it, and labeled his name accordingly.

It's a simple project, yet I commend their willingness to join in the unique experience of exploring various art works, and I have no doubt that they will create beautiful memories as they participate in the exhibition. I am sure the students in upper primary and secondary will create something higher, and they will be there to experience it all, learning and getting the motivation to do better and more challenging work next time.

I hope you enjoyed their work. Thanks for reading through🤗.

This is really beautiful, I'm sure the kids are even more confident of their designs with you beside them.

I'm loving the blue whale 😍 and the design as a fin for it, so beautiful.

The vase is very creative too, almost unbelievable they are done by kids 😉

Good luck to them in school with their own project work. Thanks for being an amazing mum and for sharing it with us here.

My favorite is the fish.
He sounds really creative to have thought about that for the eye of the fish.
They are really talented and I pray they become great.

Mommy at it again with her babies.😅 looks like you guys had so much fun doing this.

It’s only rich schools that do stuff like this for their students.😅 It helps the kids release some stress while having fun.

Sometimes the beauty of art comes from amateur sketches, I'm sure there is a branch of art like this. They did really well and less stress on your part as you have groomed them from scratch by not taking charge of their take home school work and doing it for them. Thank you for sharing and well done.

Now I know something you are not good at 😅. During my childhood days I had a lot of interest in art especially painting and a particular art work called mosaic. I was good at it but eventually I lost interest as I gradually got myself involved in other life matters. Probably if I had gotten more encouragement I would have stick to it.

The world is changing and evolving, art has gone beyond just child's play which means supporting and encouraging your kids the way you are doing could assist them to develop interest in art and probably someday build a career out of it.

This is very creative, nice work.

Believe me, I know how it feels. I have been through it many times but I believe it is something known to frequent hive users that it is not easy to keep up with notifications, it is even more difficult for whales like you 😂😂😂.

I'm your humble subject queen, my forgiveness is always yours 😂.
