Beyond Wealth and Fame: The Impact I Want to Leave Behind

After my father died, I began to understand better the many great impacts he has made in the lives of people in our community. We received lots of visits, including from people we didn't know before. Why? Because of how much kindness he spread to people, both far relatives and strangers, without reservation.

Many people whose lives he touched in diverse ways didn't hesitate to trace my father's house for a condolence visit due to what Dad did for them. He was remembered for the many seeds of kindness he sowed in people's lives, he was remembered for lifting others, and he was remembered for the many acts of encouragement and love. During that period, I remember shedding tears when people kept telling my family of how good my father had been to them; he hardly crossed your path without making a positive impact. What a great legacy Dad left behind.

To date, people still talk about his kindness, and sometimes when I do things, some will say, "You have the same heart as your late dad."Life is filled with hustles and bustles for many people. We wake up early in the morning and go to bed late, working hard for a good life. We want to build houses and assets and achieve most of our dreams, but then, all those achievements are not what I want to be remembered for. They are good and can help us live a stress-free life, but what is life without making others feel your impact positively?

What is life if I can't put smiles on people's faces? What is life if I finish existing and no one could say a good thing about me? That means I just existed for existing's sake, and I don't think that's the mind of our creator for each other.

I want to be remembered for the nice impacts I made in the lives of those around me. I want to be remembered for practically showing people love and kindness even when it's very inconvenient sometimes. I want to be remembered for giving hope to the hopeless, for helping others bear their burdens so it can be lighter on them. Life is too short to live by fame and go without anything that those you left behind can remember you for, at least for touching their lives positively in a little way. It's not bad that I can help lift others in my capability. I once helped someone achieve her dream, and it gave me one unique inner fulfillment. I want more of this, God being my helper!
