A Risk, A Stranger, and a Silent Goodbye
I have taken different risks in this life, even the ones that were worth it and the ones I will call foolish risks; it is what it is. Risk is obviously part of life, and I have heard it many times that the most wealthy ones are the ones who take risks, right? Whatever, but on a daily basis, we are faced with different decisions to make, and we risk a lot of things hoping for the best; it could be in our businesses, in education, or in our constant dealings with fellow humans.
Amongst many risks I have taken in the past, there is this one I took recently and blindly. Of course it didn't pay off; although it wasn't a major risk, but life will continue to teach us lessons for a better adjustment. Sometimes, we learn from the little things to avoid bigger mistakes.
What happened was actually due to my personality. My emotions will always put me in trouble, and honestly, it's a silent battle I have been facing right from time. Little things move me; I am simply too emotional. I get carried away sometimes with people's situations even without thinking through. A woman met me in the church and explained her situation, how hard life is for her and her family, and how she needs not a loan but someone to collaborate with her nice business that needs capital to flourish better.
In her words, she said, "Instead of begging people for money to sort her needs, she prefers to stand up and hustle for the money." That statement caught my attention! She made me believe that she is very hardworking and has the fear of God. Personally, I don't like it when healthy young people keep begging on the street, so instead of asking for financial help to buy food, she asked me to collaborate with her in her business, while she would be giving me a certain percentage. I looked at her with pity and thought of seeing her rise again in her well-trained business, as she said, and decided to do the colab.
Nkem did not even ask where she lives and other necessary questions. The money she asked for wasn't something I could dash her either, but those emotions didn't allow me to do necessary documentation or ask necessary questions. I just wanted her to start already. Told her to reduce the percentage she proposed to be sending to me but make sure to return my capital in the next 6 months.
It's over two months now, and that woman stopped coming for women's prayers. She stopped picking up my calls, or was it total blocking she blocked me sef because each time I call her, the number bounces back. She stopped attending mass in our parish too, and I have never gotten any percentage from her as we agreed. Obviously my money entered voicemail unplanned, but it's fine.
I only wanted to help my fellow woman (kind of a stranger) stand her ground again, but that little risk has exposed me to valuable lessons. Life continues, and learning continues as well.

I had a similar experience too but I later heard that's how she has been duping people with her stories🤔

People like these are everywhere and they are the ones that hinder some people from getting help just because of the mess they've caused. It's disappointing and anyone would be pissed if they have such experience. It was a big risk you took and even though it wasn't calculated, you did it out of pity and love.
Of course .their this full ground..it's really difficult now to sort out the genuine ones and help them

The good thing is that people don't even know how bad it is when you've helped them and they think they are smarter than you are but good thing is that what goes around comes around so it's fine.

I am the one who hardly get influenced by emotion and I don't show my sympathy for anyone easily. And when it comes to money I don't trust anyone because once I was betrayed by my a close friend and it was enough lesson for me not to repeat the same mistakes.

Omooo, this woman doesn’t fear God. Do think thank someone can come to the church to even steal from another is just unbelievable.
At the right time, God will make her see that her actions were not right and she will come begging you again.
It's unbelievable to think of such people in the church but unfortunately , some pple come to church h with negative motives

This is quite sad. People will go to extreme lengths to make you give them money, then they'd just simply ghost you because they don't want to pay back. They think they're smart, but they're just ruining future help for themselves.

Just their immediate need...and perhaps, they move to another location and continue same bussiness
This kind of people are the ones that block road for genuine people in need. Who would trust her with this kind of behaviour? Haba
She even blocked your calls. Have you tried using a strange number to call her and see if she would pick up or better still, let someone else contact her as if she also wants to invest in her business and see what will happen from there.
Your money will not lost like that.
I'm guessing that she wanted to do the business but maybe life happened and she used the money to do something else and she is ashamed of talking to you.
Whichever way it is, God is watching and one day, you will see her again.

Damn, It is bad people like her that makes people don't want to help others again... Imagine how she paid back your kindness with evil, if someone else with genuine intention comes to you now, you won't turn up because of this bad experience... This is why they can't make it in life because they don't deserve it.
