A Price Must Be Paid For Growth

Do you realize that you cannot put in zero effort and expect a good result? That's the summary of this withering flower and me. For this prompt, I needed a fresh image of something so important to me to capture, and then I came outside, looked around my environment, and beheld this withered flower, and then I decided to capture it and tell you all about the flower, how important it is for me, and the lessons I learned from my attitude towards this flower.

I am not a professional photographer yet, but taking original images of objects other than my personal images is one thing blogging has forced me to embrace regardless. Before now, you wouldn't find images of any object in my gallery aside from the images of my kids and me, but the narrative has changed. I now pay more attention to my environment and capture random images even in the market, reserving them for that blog where they could fit in. I love it more when the images I am using for my blogs are mine; unfortunately, I am yet to explore more original images, but gradually I will get there.

I had wanted a home filled with nature embrace, and so when my husband was building our home here in Lagos State, I told him to reserve some places and keep them uninterlocked where we can grow flowers.🌺, I wanted some part of my home to be so green and natural, where I could step out in the evening, relaxing in the midst of nature. See this flower below, it was the type I saw in a home close to my house and designed a similar thing in my mind for my home years ago.

And so we interlocked some spaces and left some for growing natural grass and flowers. There's this carpet grass, an artificial grass that most people use in their homes for beautification, but we decided to go for natural carpet grass and then grow the flower 🌺 in between the carpet grass. However, I failed to remain consistent in watering the grass and the flower.

If you take a look at this flower below, you will clearly notice the sand all around the flower. Before now, the natural carpet grass we planted was filled on the ground surrounding this single flower and was so greenish and beautiful. Obviously, I gave it my time then. I added manure and would water it morning and evening, and it kept flourishing until I became tired and left it to grow by default.

It became obvious how my zero effort towards taking care of this flower affected it so badly. We have spent money buying the grass, the manure, and the flower, including the gardener who came to plant them, and thus, I anticipate a home filled with nature in a few years to come. I was dreaming of how I would be snapping there for my blogs, but I failed to add effort. I think what made me stop watering the grass and flowers was that I was doing so manually, and it was tiring. I didn't buy a host to make it easier and couldn't continue with my morning and night watering of the plant until I got to this stage.

A price must be paid for growth; it's far beyond desiring something. I don't know if this plant can still survive or if I should start doing the needful now, but its current state has proven to me that dreams can only become reality when we work towards achieving them. My vision of having a home filled with nature is gradually dying off. It's been 3 years since I planted this flower without a reasonable growth; perhaps I should just interlock the space and forget about nature for now, even though I find it very important.
