The Childlike Joy of Having Just a Single Toy
I have been noticing a member of a social media toy group I am for quite some time. He has this Shredder figure that, as far as I can tell, has maybe 2 to 4 points of articulation (i.e. movable joints) at most, maybe even none. He has been posting this item ever since he joined the group for at least half a year now, and for all I know, it is his only toy, because he hasn't posted anything else. He is so enthusiastic about it, as seen in his captions and various pics. He has even been suspended in the group once or twice for posting the same photo over and over again. He is this toy Shredder's proudest owner, as if it is the best collectible in the world and every other figure drastically pales in comparison.

This feeling is something I want to recapture as a collector, and which I believe the majority of collectors have lost. It is the pure excitement and joy of having just one favorite action figure. It didn't matter to this guy if his toy has no joints at all, has shoddy paint apps, or if it is dirt cheap.
To him, it is the most valuable possession ever.
This is in stark contrast to other toy addicts, who, even if they have just bought a new collectible --- regardless if it is a common figure or a highly-sought-after grail --- is already searching for the next toy to buy after just one minute!
Because of the simple but profound joy that his possession gives him, this guy may just be one of the happiest people alive.
