From Clean Villages to Dusty Streets: A Young Student’s Story of Pollution

‎ Greetings to everyone. I am Nishan Ahamed.

It feels great to return once again to the SciFi Multiverse community.
This week's prompt is "Pollution" — a burning reality of our time.

Today, I want to share some of my personal thoughts and real-life experiences related to pollution.

Pollution: From Childhood Innocence to Harsh Reality

As a child, I used to hear the word “pollution” and read about it in school textbooks.
Back then, it felt like a distant issue — something that only happened in big cities or faraway places.
But over time, I realized that pollution is not just real, it's all around me.
It has silently become a part of our everyday life.

Though I come from a village, I currently live in Kushtia town for my education.
On the way to my college, I often see garbage piled up beside the roads.
The constant honking of vehicles causes headaches.
Standing on the busy streets, I can feel the air thick with smoke, unpleasant odors, and dust.
My eyes sting, my throat becomes itchy.
At first, I thought it was temporary, but now I understand — it's damaging our lungs little by little.

Pollution is Not Just a Physical Struggle

The dust and smoke in the air make it hard for me to breathe.
Air pollution has become a daily burden in my life.

But pollution doesn’t only harm the body — it affects the mind too.
Living in such a gloomy and polluted environment can increase anxiety, depression, and restlessness.
It drains our mental energy and weakens our emotional balance.

Which Type of Pollution is the Worst?

In my opinion, air pollution is the most dangerous.
We breathe air every second — and if that air is polluted, then so is every breath we take.

Of course, plastic pollution, water pollution, and soil pollution are also major threats.
Each of them is gradually destroying the natural world around us.

What Can We Do to Reduce Pollution?

There are several simple but powerful steps we can take:

Use less plastic

Dispose of waste properly

Plant more trees

Control industrial waste

Promote public awareness

Small actions can lead to big changes if we stay consistent and united in our efforts.

Why This Prompt Matters

This SMP-W22 prompt from the SciFi Multiverse community made me reflect deeply on the issue of pollution.
It reminded me that we all have a role to play — and that even our smallest contributions can create a positive impact.

Let us come together and take action to fight pollution.
Together, we can build a cleaner, greener, and safer planet for the generations to come.

Thank you so much for reading.
‎Hope you liked it.

Air pollution is quite dangerous as it spreads faster and affects everyone within a certain radius.
