Splintervibes are Coming to Splinterlands: Music Track NFT’s

The other day while checking the price of Wagon Kit's on the Non-card market, I noticed a bunch of new items had been added. When I looked more closely, they were new NFT’s called Splintervibes.
To investigate, I typed "splintervibes" into the Help Section, and sure enough a few days ago a FAQ about Splintervibes was posted.

The Basics
According to the article, Splintervibes are music created about popular Splinterlands cards.
The Series 1 collection will have 80 NFT’s which feature a music track for 80 real Splinterlands cards.
There will be 80 unique tracks with 100 copies each. So in total Series 1 will have 80 x 100 = 8000 NFTs
The 80 Cards Chosen
Looking through the NFT’s there are tracks based on a variety of cards from Beta to Conclave Arcana. There are even some Gladiator cards and I think I even saw a Foundation card.

The track I would most want to own would probably be the Dr. Blight one. I think it is one of the coolest cards in the game and one of the founders even wore a Dr. Blight costume on Halloween once. I am curious as to what the music for Yaba’s Pickle will sound like.
Initial Distribution
Distribution is still to be determined. One guess of mine would be for every BCX of the card you own, you would get 1 raffle ticket for the NFT of that card. I also wonder if staked SPS or land could come into play.
How to Play Them
The Splinterlands music player is currently located on the SPS management page in the bottom left corner. To get there, click on your SPS balance at the top of the home screen.

The SPS page seems like a really strange place to put the music player. So I assume that the team has simply put it there temporarily and that eventually it will be moved to a permanent home.
The music player currently has nine free tracks. They are short but can be played in a loop.

There is a button on the music player that says “Switch to Splintervibes”. However, if you press it you will get an error message that you do not own any tracks and you cannot since they do not exist yet.

Personally I have always played with the in-game sound / music off. If I am in the mood to listen to music while I am battling I play my own music on my stereo system instead. Though if I ever obtain a Splintervibes track that would change.
Viewing Your Tracks and Other Actions
You will be able to view your Splintervibes tracks by going to your Items specifically Other Items. Then in the dropdown box click on “Music.”

You will also be able to view your owned tracks by clicking on the “Owned” tab in the non-card market.
Splintervibes tracks will be able to be transferred to another player, sold, locked, or burned for 200 Glint. To perform these actions you will first need to be on your Other Items page.

Then you will find the track and click the three lines horizontal lines (hamburger) to get these actions.
Final Thoughts
When you think about music on Hive, people usually think about Rising Star first. It is an idle game where your character starts a musical career. The game also allows real world musicians to create their own songs and music tracks and sell them as NFT’s. Now that Splinterlands has gotten into the music world, maybe a collaboration between the two gaming communities could be beneficial in the future.
I wonder if there will be any bonuses for battling with a monster while listening to the monsters track. The bonus could work similarly to how things like Titles and Guild Building give a percentage bonus in ranked play.
Hopefully Splintervibes will bring more interest and attention to some older cards and sets. Since most of the focus for battling in ranked play is on Modern Format, some older cards have lost value. It will always be beneficial to find ways to give non-Modern cards new use cases.

Very cool post! Good work and thanks for sharing..
Thanks for commenting!
While looking through your posts, the one that got me most excited was the ad one. Crypto gaming really needs to figure out how to bring external money in other than just the players themselves. Atlas Earth is the only game I know of that has successfully sustained itself as a game integrated with ads. Atlas Earth is not a crypto game, despite being P2E. The game has received a lot of recognition in “Beer Money” communities on the web. So ads have the potential to attract a whole new demographic of players to Splinterlands while also bringing in external money into the ecosystem. I am just an outsider and so there are probably complications and issues I’m not aware of, but if this could actually get implemented it would bring me new faith in Splinterlands.
Thanks for your hard work.
Nice I'm glad you found some joy in my post! Yes i agree with you, it just makes the game just a bit more stable with the added steady revenue. I'm collecting community comments to help implement new ideas, Ill add this to the list.
