What is Moonkarts?

Moonkarts is a 3D kart racing game built with the Unity Engine and secured on the Hive blockchain. It aims to be the flagship game of Arcade Colony as it is the first 3D game on Hive created by the team behind Splinterlands. The game has the potential to attract more gamers than most Hive games. It is probably best played using a controller (ex. XBOX 360) rather than keyboard. And also requires a bit higher PC specs than a simple auto-battler like Splinterlands.

What is Arcade Colony?

Arcade Colony is a platform that allows games to have Web3 features. It hosts a selection of games similar to traditional game stores like Steam, Epic Games, etc. The governance token of the platform is the COLONY token. COLONY has numerous uses from being used as rewards in games to participating in governance. On the platform, in addition to Moonkarts there is also of course Splinterlands. In addition, there is also a MLS soccer card game Genesis League Goals. There will also be an upcoming 2D space-shooter Hyper Rail Blaster that I am personally looking forward to.

The Process:

I made my infographic using Canva which is a popular graphic design platform. I will show the process I used to design and create it below.

I started out with a gradient that goes from black to purple to pink. The top looks like a night sky and the bottom has a nice atmospheric look to it.

Below I have added some text to it. I like the glow that I added to the yellow text to make it pop out a bit more. It also goes well next to the Moonkarts logo and the moon. To subdivide the text of the infographic, I decided to use rows of graphics from Moonkarts. The first row is made up of drivers from the game.

Next I added in more text. The text is divided into three main sections. The first section makes it clear that Moonkarts is a Web3 game in which you are in control of your own blockchain assets and have the potential to earn. The second section describes the game modes. The final section tries to excite the viewer by showing them the opportunity to build their gaming account/empire into something special.

I added a row of karts and later a row of power-ups from the game. As the sky gets lighter and lighter, I inverted the color of the text from yellow to dark purple. Finally, at the bottom I added the Moonkarts website plus the Hive logo on the left and Arcade Colony logo on the right.

You can see the finished product above. I like the design which is simple yet elegant. I experimented with adding some stars and planets on the side borders, but found they were disappointing and clashed a bit with the other game images.

I enjoyed participating in this contest and making an infographic for Moonkarts. It provided an opportunity to improve my novice graphic design and Canva skills as well as learn more about Moonkarts and Arcade Colony.
