My Heat Survival Skills
Hi Hiveans. This is my entry for this week India United contest.
I don't know how the summer over your country is, but here, we are yet to actually enter the hot season... Or per say.... The dry season, but it doesn't mean that the heat is any less.
Sometimes, the heat becomes so unbearable and me, being a water vat that I am, I end up consuming so much water. Yet, I still lose the water I had drank by sweating so profusely, following by unexplainable rashes.
The rashes would not only affect my arms and chest but would also extend to my face, and the feeling is unbearably itchy.
Even ignoring the itch is like going to war with a temptress.
So, how exactly do I cope with the heat?
First, I stay as hydrated as I can. This time around, you'd see me with 2 water bottles that are filled to the brim, with extra 3 sachets of pure water in my bag.
Sometimes, I may not need to take a schools bag for my lectures, but because of water, I would have to take it and it does contribute to the heat.
When I drop the bag, I would be having a large wet patch on my back and it feels uncomfortable.
Another thing I do, is by wearing light clothes.
The clothes would be as light as possible and the sleeveless that I usually hate wearing, would come back from their vacation.
If there is electricity, that is even better, as I would be able to use my fan.
And if there is none, I would use the portable rechargeable fan I had gotten for myself due to the heat.
As far as my power bank is filled or available, I am able to use the fan even when asleep and it just makes me sleep better.
To make myself more comfortable, I take my baths the moment I feel uncomfortable and that is, if there is actually water.
At home, I do not have to worry about this issue, but in school, it becomes a headache.
Worse is when you need water to bath and you have none and even the people who usually fetch water for you to pay them, would no longer be seen, because of how unforgiving the sun is.
That is even when the sumo will decide to spoil and you would be as frustrated as hell.
Sometimes, I wish I have the powers to make water rush in my bathroom, so that I can have a relaxing bath.
After a cool bath, I will then rub powder. It's best if it has cooling properties, to help me combat the rashes and give me a transient cooling sensation that would at least, allow me enter the dreamland, before I am woken up by the heat.
These are the things I do to manage the heat, what about you? How do you combat yours?
Thank you for reading.
