What’s your plan for the week?

Painful doubt and anxiety

I’ve not been writing much on Hive of late and to be honest with you I’ve been going through that annoying lull where I look at things and ask myself, “Why, do I do this? What do I get out of it? Is it worth my time? Do I get much in the way of engagement? Do I really earn anything at all? Aren’t all of these nice things slowly going to be shut down by the governments? Too much freedom? Does freedom even bloody exist in this world anymore?”

It’s all self-doubt. Anxiety. Lack of confidence in one’s own ability.

Then I remember why I got into blogging, writing, photography, coding and creating music. It’s because I enjoy it and then I blow the doldrums away, forget about the dystopian nightmares that threaten to erode our society. It’s the simple joy of being human. Having fun. Creativity. Sharing. Engaging in discourse with other likeminded souls.

So my plan is to cheer up and get back into a little bit of a routine here on hive!

Ableton Move

Some of you might know that I run a Substack project called Modulations and last week I published a podcast episode there which you can find via this link.

Should I post to Castgarden? Mind you I stopped posting there some time ago.

The Ableton Move looks like this:

Kind of a smaller version of their Push 3 and is designed to work as a standalone instrument and composition tool.

I’ll post more content on it via my sound library community project.

I have a new track cooking up on it, which is a very melodic, cheerful piece of music that I hope to perform in the ruins of an old Benedictine Abbey in just over a weeks time. The next ModCaf meeting is going to be at this very special location just outside Farnham in Surrey.

Church Project

I’ve been very encouraged by how well received this project has been by various people on Hive. I’ve met some new folk this way and that’s good. There are some draft posts to finish and a Slovenian church to write about and put on the Worldmappin map whilst I’m at it.

Wavlake

I’ve been posting music on Wavlake for awhile treating it as a kind of web3 Bandcamp and my music has featured on various podcasts in that space, that’s one track that keeps on earning me sats at the moment. I’m not complaining! That’s really cool.

Wrapping up

So this week on Hive - I want to have a look at where I want my account to be in a years time. To set some realistic goal and a series of habits that will get me there.

  • Daily Actifit posts
  • Daily power up, no matter how little Hive I’ve got at the moment
  • Daily posts on anything with 100% power up

What are your plans? This week or in the longer term?

I have my regular Hive posts, but I don't hold myself to a routine if it's not fun. It's not like I have thousands of eager readers waiting for the next post. I wonder who has had the most readers here and if they managed to attract an audience beyond the actual Hivers. It would be cool for someone here to go viral.

I get the anxiety and self doubt. I think Hive has settled into habit now although I still get annoyed at inequity here, I do like the exchange of ideas.

I think it’s a refreshingly different place and that’s all fine by me. There’s always great ideas, people who want to make a difference and that’s very admirable.
