U6 sports are carnage.

It was a tough watch. Almost as tough as watching Man United these days.

To be fair the quality and control was about the same even if the players were trying a bit harder on the U6 pitch.

This was the first time that training was upgraded to real competition and it was interesting to say the least. They were playing hurling and it was what's called a blitz.

That's a few quick games one after another. It was our team versus the next town and they split the players into three groups. Then each team played all of the others.

It's funny how even at a young age you can see the players who are going places. Unfortunately mine has a way to go but hopefully he picks up an interest along the way.

There were a couple of the young lads that were very good and played a proper game. Not easy in such a skillful game and at such a young age. It was fun to watch all the small kids playing and the standard was actually a lot better than i expected. A lot of time and effort goes into organizing all of this so it's nice to see it go ahead successfully.

What is hurling.

Ref: Youtube:

My lad didn't find it so easy and unfortunately wasn't the best night for him.

It's not easy to get started at this young age and after a long day in school tempers and frustrations got the better of him resulting in a few tantrums.

This is how we learn and get better but i felt sorry for him when it was no fun and he wanted to quit.

We'll work on it going forward and try to teach him how to handle the emotions that went with the day so that it can be more fun going forward.

Lessons learned on all sides. He wasn't the only one with tears as the night was cold and there were a lot of bangs and bruises. It's not a game for the faint hearted and there was a lot of children on the ground by the end of it.

Quite really a tough time been a man United fan right now. Emotionally but I believe they will definitely bounce back. Probably they need a new change of coach
