Topping up my splinterlands collection.
Putting profits back into the game.
Last week I wrote about how there was money to be made in the splinterlands tournaments due to to low entry numbers and especially in the older alpha beta formats.
If you have any sort of a beta even an untamed collection you should be able to make a profit from tournaments right now.
Tournaments are a great way to earn.
If you can win 1-3 games then you are in the prize pool for the majority of these tournaments. IT's only small money unless you can break into the top 10-20 players but if you can make a profit from every contest that you enter then you are doing well.
Finally we have survival mode back as well so that's another opportunity to earn within the game and expand your deck even more.
The benefit of the game is that there are so many ways to earn form it and when you do it gives you the chance to reinvest into the game and compound those earnings by building a stronger deck and by moving up the rankings in every area.
Since I have been only playing wild tournaments I have decided to keep my focus on the older sets for now and come back to the modern ones at a later date.
There are limited availability of the older sets with the exception of chaos legion so it would be great to keep adding them to my collection as i earn from the game. This gives me a better chance of winning and a better chance of moving up the rankings.
If i can earn a little bit every day that will translate to more cards and more wins in the eco system.
I have about 75% of the Untamed series maxed out, then only about 30% of beta with very few maxed out so there is a lot of room to buy depending on market prices.
I try to buy depending on price rather than need so I will set the market to cheapest first and work my way up the listings until i can see a card that I don't have maxed out yet. Prices can change a lot from week to week so it's possible to find some great deals by checking in constantly and seeing what cards are showing up cheap on the day.
I was looking in the market today and didn't see much that would help my collection so I just picked up a few "Dallan" which I still need to max out and he was cheaper than usual as well as a maxed out "Forgotten one" which I thought that i already had but after checking wasn't part of my collection.
The game itself has so many collection now that it will be impossible to collect it fully in retrospect with some of the older cards costing crazy money. Unless we see Hive hitting some crazy money in the next few years then I will never have the hundred grand that you would need to pick up the old maxed out legendaries and all of the new cards on the market.
You would need to have a huge position within the game to keep up with all of the card releases we have seen over the past couple of years.
I would like to see the team slow down their release rate to maybe every two years and give players a chance to keep up with development and increase scarcity but I know they need the money to keep the lights on but I just hope that they don't flood the small userbase like they did with chaos legion and hurt it in the long run. Only time will tell.
Try for yourself.
If you haven't played the game before then now is the best time to join. Today is much better than tomorrow and a lot better than later.
Link to the game here,
Although I haven't played the game since then due to my lack of experience and knowledge, a smart strategy of reinvesting profits into your collection is the best way to stay competitive in the long run. Tournaments are underrated for their daily gains, and Survival Mode adds a touch of fun! I completely agree that slowing down card releases could help the ecosystem recover. I hope the developers find this balance.
As you said, tournaments are a great way to win good SPS by battling, but you have to have most of the required cards in order to win prizes. Keep playing and growing.
