Laptop shopping.

My laptop has been giving some issues over the past couple of months and even died for a few days in March. Now it's struggling to charge and I'm thinking that it's time to buy a replacement for when the laptop does finally go.

I've already backed up my passwords and access in cold storage from the early days so that if it does go down suddenly I won't get caught short.

Now it's just about finding a good spec. I'm no expert and only really use it for crypto and content creation so my main priorities are speed and storage with a good utility. They have gone up a lot in price though since i bought my last laptop 5 years ago. Back then $400 would get you a good quality laptop but now you're looking at least $600 up to $1000 for one with the size and spec that i want.

  • Min 15" screen.
  • 16GM RAM.
  • 512GB storage.
  • HD Screen.
  • Backlit keyboard.

I've found a few good options but not loving the prices right now. I was hoping for a good sale price to make it cheap or else i might have to drop my specs a bit.

Amazon has some decent laptops for sale but they get bad reviews since they are coming from all different countries with various keyboards and operating systems.

For anybody that spends their time online or involved with crypto then your laptop is your life. Other than my phone it's the one item that I can't go without. I bring it anytime that I'm away for the night and like to check into hive once a day at least for splinterlands and writing.

It's just the price that's killing me at the moment. Luckily I don't need one straight away and can hold out for a better deal somewhere along the line. There is always a sale popping up at one point or another.

Thanks.
I have a Lenovo already and it worked great. I want 1TB of storage but it is pricey.

I wouldn't mind spending the money if they lasted a long time but nothing does now.

I use Lenovo at work (ThinkPad series), they lasted long, the previous one 4 years and the new one has 2 years already, we rarely run into troubles

I used Chatgpt to compare the differences between models when looking recently either new or used.

You will probably get a better spec laptop for the same price from Facebook marketplace or adverts.ie as long as the person has good reviews.
Test it before collecting it for battery life etc. I got a refurbished Lenovo X1 Carbon on marketplace and it works great.
