Right from birth , our parents who are our first teachers in life try their best to train and bring us up in a right way so that we will grow to be responsible citizens in future. Almost everyday, our moms and dads keep on singing different advices to us depending on what wrong we have done. Sometimes out of nowhere, they start to advice us and we think they’re talking to much~we all have said this once or more times in our lives ~

As we grow and find ourselves in the real world, we start to realize the importance of all the advice our parents gave us. We also learn more and more life lessons every day and that’s what shapes us into who we are today. In life, we learn from people, what we see, how we are trained and what we are taught. You never know where or who you might learn something from and that’s why most at times we have people tell us to be kind to others and learn to build our network. This is very true as I can bear to the fact that I learnt a lot of the stuff I know today from people who were total strangers to me. I only needed to approach them to learn what they know.

A lot of factors have contributed to shaping me into who I am today and it is with no doubt that I’m still not perfect and everyday, I try to do better. Once, I attended a conference and one of the speakers gave us an advice which changed my life totally. These were his words.
‘ Confi is the word. Be confident in yourself and don’t be shy to approach others because that is the only way to build your network.’ These words sunk deep inside my soul and from then I promised myself to do away with shyness and always show up with 100% confidence.

I am a very shy person and l due to my shyness I lost many good opportunities. But everything changed after I attended this conference. This piece of advice meant a lot to me because I used to be someone who wouldn’t approach a stranger unless it was necessary but now, I have learnt to put my shyness away and network with people. You never know who your helper might be in this life and I can tell you that I have met so many people over the past few years and these individuals have impacted my life so much. I have grown to become like family with most of these people who used to be total strangers and I have learnt so much from them.

Placing yourself in the right place at the right time to learn and network with people who will be valuable to you is very important for individuals looking to develop themselves - especially professionally. There are a lot of conferences and what have you being organized every blessed day and everyone could make good use of opportunities like this. Growth only comes to those who seek it. If you want to achieve something, you need to go out there and work your ass off for it because nothing good comes easy. I hope you enjoyed reading this, thank you for your time.
