The Two Sides of Social Media: My Story, My Lessons

Everything on the surface of this earth has its good and bad side as we all would agree. Gone were the days when we had to join long queues just to speak to our friends and family members far away. Today, the story is different, thanks to social media.

Social media has been with us for quite a number of years and we can all attest to the fact that it’s a necessary evil. On the good side , there are a lot we can talk about which include the ability to reach anyone in any part of the world, being able to have access to information very easily and so on and so forth. On the bad side to, we have social media being used as a tool to steal from people and nations in broad daylight and not also forgetting the negative impact of some content on our children.

Personally, I would say social media has bad both a good and a bad effect on me and i would explain why. When I first started using social media, I didn’t really know what I was looking for. I was just following the trends. Then, I was a bubbling teenager who was trying to figure out what to do about my life. I was mostly on facebook which was more popular then, chatting with people. This didn’t do me any good aside waste my time. Then, I got smarter and started a business which was mainly online. I had learnt my lessons on cyber fraud and so I knew my way around not getting scammed and that was where I started benefiting from social media.

A year later, my business was still doing well but I decided to bring it to a halt because I was busy. But I still had good use of social media. I used it to secure deal for project I was working on, I’ve met amazing people on social media who have changed my life in one way or the other, I’ve also gotten the opportunity to learn a lot of things from social media and then there’s Hive blockchain where I’ve been able to be a part of a larger ecosystem, build relationships while also learning and earning.

The story between then and now is very different and I can see the changes so far. And so I’d say it all depends on our perspectives and what we are looking for on social media.
