The Reliability Factor: Public vs. Private Services
My school was ranked as one of the best girls schools in the country but being there in that moment, I didn’t feel I belonged there . Why because everything was different. In my previous private schools, teachers had time for students and the numbers in the class weren’t huge. Having to sit in a class with over 40 other girls was a new thing to me and i had to adapt quickly. But I eventually got used to it. This experience coupled with my university education has been my longest experience with public institutions and I can tell you that I did enjoy the change but it wasn’t want I expected.
Speaking on behalf of the average Ghanaian, we all wished we had enough money so that we could stop using public services. This is because first off, government owned institutions have the worst of the worst when it comes to employees. Imagine walking into an office and no one minds you. It’s like they’re not there to serve you. And even when you find someone to help you out, they end up tossing you around until you get fed up. This is what actually happened to me today when I visited the Ghana revenue authority for some work.
I don’t even wish to talk about the issue of public hospitals. You see these nurses, just thank your stars if they don’t end up giving you a wrong prescription aside from the fact that they would always be shouting at you like you’re their kid. One thing I’m very happy and thankful to God for is the fact that my family has a personal doctor and we mostly used that growing up. Because I can’t imagine having to visit a public hospital and getting treated like shit after hours of waiting when I can just call my doctor to book an appointment and I’m all set.
Comparing governments institutions to private institutions, they both have their pros and cons. Services rendered by government institutions are way cheaper as compared to private institutions but when it comes to quality , private institutions win. When we talk about good customer services, private institutions wear the crown also because why else would they be charging you this ridiculous amount of money for petty things. And oh, some of these civil servants are most likely to cheat you on a normal day.😂
I for one would always choose private services over public services because I really don’t have the time, patience and energy to deal with all these bitter government employees. Aside things that are solely related to the public sector, in everything I do, I wish to go private. Because why not?
all images belong to me.

Which means their rudeness and nonchalant attitude is the same everywhere, I felt it is because there is no one to monitor their conduct yet they get paid at the end of the month.
I totally agree with you, and your experiences with public schools and hospitals is relatable, so I see and know why you'd prefer private services to avoid poor treatment and all. There's the urgent need for improvement in public services.

Exactly, government owned will stress you to the moon and back and still not get it done in the end..
Lol, a lot of public sector is always patronised because of the affordability, that's why people are much there compared to private sector
