The One Principle That Carried Me Through Last Year

As individuals, we all have morals and principles we live by. We don’t just do anything we want anyhow we want it. We know that there are repercussions for our actions and we try so much to always do the right thing at the right time.

As obvious as it is, we all grew up in different backgrounds. How I was raised is probably very different from how another person was raised and this makes us different in so many ways. As children, we are raised by our parents or whoever is responsible for us in the hopes of becoming better people in the future. We are taught right from wrong , principles we should live by and what we should stand for.

I for one learnt a lot in my childhood. There are so many things I did differently as a child which most kids didn’t know of and this all has to do with our upbringing. As I grew up, I started to have my own experiences while also using them to adjust and live my life the right way. There are so many principles I live by in my daily life and up until last year, I didn’t know there were some principles I assumed to be living by which I actually did not and one of them is putting myself first. I caught myself always doing more for people than I would do for myself and I made a mental note to work on that.

If there’s that one principle I lived busy year which did so much for me was taking responsibility for my actions. It may sound very easy to say oh I will always take responsibility for my actions. But when it’s actually time to do that, we find ourselves being defensive and all of that. I’ve been there and I’ve done that before. But last year, I owned up to my mistakes and everything in between and this helped me learn a lot about myself and always work on myself in the process. As much as it doesn’t always feel good sometimes, we do need to hold ourselves accountable for every action of ours because that is the only way we would grow.
