The New Year Goals That Inspired Me

But then, there was a bit of a twist when someone took the opportunity to rather talk about their setbacks in the year instead of their resolutions. And as usual, people hopped on the idea also. This made me see different versions of New Year’s resolution from different points of views. But among the many, there’s one that really stood out for me.
I chanced upon a video of this lady who spoke about how bad her year had been. She went from having 3 miscarriages, to going through a divorce with her husband who happened to be the father of her two kids. Due to the divorce going on, she could not celebrate her two kids birthdays for them in 2025 and that made her cry her eyes out. But the bad luck didn’t stop there. She had issues with her car , her car got towed away and she also fell very sick leading her to lose two jobs. The story gets worse by every passing minute but this is what I can remember from the entire chain of happenings.

Her resolution for the new year, was to survive and stand back on her feet. This might seem like a normal thing for anyone to say but for someone who has been through what this lady has been through, it means more than just words. It means she hasn’t give up on herself and has hope alive that things would turn out well. Most people would not be able to stand such a test but she did and even in the midst of it all, she still looks forward to a great year ahead.
all images belong to me.

This really moved me. We forget sometimes that not all of our “new year’s goals” are accompanied by achievement, by success, some are just simply to survive.
The woman’s story is sad, but her goal is a display of strength. She got up after what she went through, which is such a powerful message. Thank you for this new way of thinking. This is a reminder that hope isn't always yelling; it’s just whispering to let it know it’s still there.
Well said.
Thanks for passing by.
The thing about having a year go by is that you'll definitely see people talking about how much the past year was good to them and others, how much the past year was rough for them. Everyone's resolutions will be different, but when I see people who are trying to get back on their feet after going through a lot, it's a different kind of motivation.
It is. And this should even fuel us to do better.
