The Learning Curve That Almost Broke Me

Learning has been an integral part of human life for as long as I can remember. Everyday we step out in the world , we learn new things both in class and out of class because the brain is functioning every blessed moment. Life is about learning, unlearning and relearning and if you can’t do that as an individual, you’re bound to not go far in life. Throughout the course of my life, I’ve learnt so many things ranging from various topics and aspects of life. I started schooling at a very tender age and this actually exposed me to a lot of things. Since then, I’ve been in the educational system for as long as I can remember and I have learnt so many things, especially in the science field as that’s where my interests lie.

But, in my line of learning, there’s obviously a number of things that are not for the weak which I’ve fortunately and unfortunately come face to face with. Not everything is as easy as it seems but sometimes we have to find our way around it whether we like it or not. Being a biochemist, I always find my way around things because we biochemists are known for that. Looking at the complex things we have study during our schooling period, there’s a lot that we can crack on a normal day and even in our sleep.

I thought I could crack anything, understand it and find my way around it like preparing eba, but no one told me there were some things I’d come into contact with and just know it’s not my thing. I can remember about a year ago, I had to enroll into a master class on behalf of my company. This meant that I had to be going for series of lectures during that period with people from other companies on entrepreneurship and a range of things. Everything was going smoothing until we got to the financial aspect.

I thought we were just going to be thought basic bookkeeping and all but nothing prepared me for the in-depth accounting courses these people took us through. It literally felt like I just went to sit there and look at others because I can tell you that I didn’t even know what was going on. For the start, everything looked easy but as time went on, I couldn’t even make head or tail of what what was going on. I kept saying ‘ahh’ and ‘what is this’ in my head for like one billion times. I thought I was the only one in this soup but I later found out that most people were all in this soup with me.😂 No one wanted to own up first but with the way things were going we just couldn’t hold it in any longer. So, we broke the ice.

We kept asking the lecturer to go over and over again just for us to be able to understand the basics of it. At the end of the day, I left to the house thinking and knowing that accounting isn’t for me and would never be for me and that was the first and last accounting heard of me.😂 Maybe in the future, I might go back to pursue a course in accounting but for now, I’d rather be in the science felid where I’m a pro. Let me not go and put myself in trouble.

I have been in a similar shoe before, I guess many people have. Studying philosophy, it was difficult for me to deal with metaphysics at first. It was abstract that I go blank whenever the lecturer starts talking metaphysics😃, funny enough my final project was on neurophilosophy. And it had a lot to do with metaphysics. I guess it gradually began sinking at some point, and eventually became one of my favourite

Learning is truly a part of life, and sometimes we discover that certain areas just aren’t for us—and that’s okay. The important thing is to know where we feel most comfortable and keep moving forward steadily.

Accounting ke
Better maintain your composure and steeze in your science field, trouble no good o 😂

I can relate to how things starts easy and gets difficult without giving you signs 😂 I always wonder how the teachers understand what they teach.
