The Dark Side of a Cashless Life || My Hive Power Up
Gone were the days when every transaction we had to make was in person. I remember my mom giving me money to go and buy her stuff and even when I was older, I was being given cedi notes for school.
Those days, you could only pay for stuff either with cash or through the bank in person. There was no mobile money transfer or even mobile banking. I remember misplacing a huge amount of money one time which my mom had given me to go and give someone. The place was a bit far from our house and I was playing on my way there only to realize the money was nowhere to be found. I had to turn back and walk all the way back looking for the money which I didn’t find. Ladies and gentlemen, it’s by the grace of God that I’m alive today because my mom didn’t spare me that day.😂
Today, thanks to technology we have so many ways to handle our finances digitally. You don’t need to buy a scratch card for airtime, you can just buy airtime with a short code and pay from your bank or mobile wallet. Performing transactions have been made easier. You can send and receive money from anywhere in the world from your phone with little to no stress. It’s safe to say life has been made a lot easier.
But as they say, everything has its positives as well as negatives and same applies to managing your finances digitally. Personally, I’ve fallen victim to so many scams and bad situations when it comes to my finances digitally. Once, I ordered something online, made payment only for the product to not arrive up till today. I got scammed. Another time, I managed to send extra money to a food vendor because I was busy chatting with my friends. But thank God for good people, the next day I went there, she refunded my money.
But, there was this one time a made a huge mistake which almost gave me a heart attack. So, my dad sent me some money for something and I had the money in my mobile money wallet for a very long time because I kept postponing it. The day I decided to actually get this thing, I had to send the money to the person and while performing the transaction, I made a mistake with the number and sent the money to a wrong number. Mostly, when stuff like this happen and you’re not quick to call the office you’re likely to lose your money so called my network provider for a reverse of the money and luckily for me, the reverse went through but I still got my money back a few days later.
Since then, I’ve always made sure to be extra careful when performing transactions because you never know who your money might end up with.
For my power up today, I was able to power up 16 hive which summed up my HP from 3554 to 3560HP. During the month, was able to accumulate 144HP through curation rewards and constant posts.
Happy #HPUD to you and make sure to power up if you haven't.

I'm not sure how long this lasted here, if it ever really worked for many, but it became yet another means for people to scam innocent sellers. Imagine paying for a product and, having taken it home, calling for a reversal. I hope you're not trying to whine @fashtioluwa with your novelty bills.
She said she spent cedis and went ahead to show us dollars. I know all the things she's trying to do and @abenad knows too but won't say anything.
Eiyaa. Allow me.
Eiyaa. Allow me.
Let me whine him.😂😂
You were given cedis for school but all I saw were dollars. Ok, continue the story, I am hearing.
Haha, the mommy part is very relatable. You go and lose money. hahahaha.
Assuming you sent the money to me, I wouldn't let it spend several days in my wallet, I would have sent it back. You don't trust me? Ok, send it and let me show you.
