Thankful for This Year’s Light

From where I see things, it seems every year moves a bit faster than the previous one. Just yesterday we were in the year 2020 and today 2025 is already coming to and end. I’m scared to say Jack now because who knows, the next time I say Jack, I would probably be a grandma in 2050 or something.

Such is life and I’d like to believe that as we grow older, life seems to fly by faster for us because we have goals to achieve and targets to hit. At the end of the day, the world doesn’t wait for anyone one of us. This year has been one I’m unable to describe, honestly. When I talk about going with the flow, this year was it and nothing prepared me for the crazy plot with. There’s actually a lot to be grateful for the year because things could have been worse.

First, I’m grateful to God for my life and that of my family. I’ve lost quite a number of people in my life this year, almost lost others and also almost lost my life. As traumatic as this all is, I can’t keep brooding over it but rather, I chose to move on and live my life to the fullest and in gratitude.

Next, I’m grateful for growth. This year, I’ve grown a lot and when I saw growth I don’t mean growing tall or adding a year to my age. I mean growth that has an impact in my life. I’ve had the opportunity to experience and learn so many things I never thought I could. The platforms I’ve had access to and the people that I’ve met this year have transformed my life so much that I believe I’m really becoming who I envision to be.

If there’s something I should be grateful for, it’s the opportunity to be myself. I can say boldly that in as much as this year has been tough and emotionally draining, I’ve also been happier than I have ever been in a while. I’ve had to make some hard decisions along the line but when I look back, it was really worth it. And so, I’m grateful for clarity and guidance because without that, I wouldn’t be here today, living happily and freely and also sharing my positive energy with others.

There’s actually a lot in grateful for this year, but this is just a bit of it all. Hopefully, we all get to end the year well.
