Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - 3 Game Modes

In today’s splinterlands social media challenge, I want to talk about the game modes. If you are a player, you know that previously, the game had 2 game modes; modern and wild. Players can only access the wild format when they purchase a wild pass. However, there is no need to purchase a pass for the modern format.

The wild format allows players use more cards than the modern makes provision for. The rewards in the modern format is also more than what is in the wild format which serves as motivation for more player to play the modern format.

Now, for about a week or 2 now, a third format has been added to splinterlands which is known as the survival mode. This survival mode like the modern mode or format requires no purchase of a pass. However, what makes the survival mode stand out from the other 2 is that the cards players use in battle that ends in a loss go into a cooldown period. Essentially, this mode is for the best and the players with a huge playing deck.

If you are a player who does not have a lot of cards, the survival mode is probably not for you because you cannot afford to have your cards be in cooldown for the remainder of the season. When your cards go into cooldown in the survival mode, they cannot be used anywhere else. Meaning you cannot use them in modern and wild battles, neither can you avail them for renting or even use them in your lands. That is what we have been made to understand.

Also, we have been made to understand that the rewards make up for this. Players who are victorious in survival mode battles are rewarded with more sps and glint and this mode has its leaderboard as well. At the end of the season, the top players are rewarded with some glint.

Regarding the cooldowns, each card has its cooldown period. Some cards go into cooldown for a day, others for days while others go into cooldown for even the entire season. In order to not get blindsided it is important to get to know the cooldown periods for your cards. There is a section in the game that houses all that information.

I think the general feedback from the community about this new game mode has been quite positive. Naturally, some like it while others do not. Personally, I cannot get into this yet because my playing deck will not permit me. My game experience too will not allow me to take part in this.
