Screened In: Is Our Phone Reliance Becoming a Problem
Almost the whole world is buried in their electronic devices today which is alarming. Gone were the days when people didn’t have to spend the whole day and then some more on the phone but rather had to sit down with people and spend quality time with them. As we evolve, a lot is actually change and maybe this is the price we have to pay for this kind of growth.
There’s actually a lot going on in the social me space today and everyone has their own reason for being there. For most people , it’s for fun and releasing stress, for others it’s work and for others it’s just a random thing they do on days they’re free. Everyone has his or her reason for being on the internet. But the big question is, is all this time we are spending on the internet being beneficial to us or we are just wasting our whole day there doing nothing? That’s a question everyone needs to sit and ask himself.
When it comes to staying away from our electronic gadgets such as our phones or laptops, most people can’t actually do away with them. On a normal day when there is lights out, most people make sure to not make their phones or laptops go off because what else would they have to do in those moments. Some even go to the extent of moving to other places just to charge their gadgets because of a few hours of power outages. I for one use that opportunity to do stuff that I love to do like read, visit my friends, or even sleep because why not.
On a normal day, I’m always online because there’s a lot I do on the internet. Me being online all the time doesn’t mean I’m always on my phone. I have messages I received this morning and I still haven’t been able to reply because of been so occupied. The main reason I’m always online is for business purposes and with the kind of life I’m living, a minute offline can actually cost me a lot which I’m not ready for. But when it comes to using my phone ,I hardly do aside on days when I really need to.
I’d say out of 24 hours , I use my phone for about 5 to 6 hours and that from my screen time analysis from my phone. I’d like to believe that’s a healthy range because I don’t spend 12 or more hours on my phone. I mean, what would I even be spending all those hours on my phone doing. I’m not really a TikTok fan so I guess that wood I explain. When it comes to social media, I don’t think I have much business there because I didn’t even use most of these social media platforms. It’s not something I fancy and I often times fight with my friends over that because they always seem to wonder why I don’t use some social media platform. But in actuality, what am I going to benefit for spending time there? Nothing!
I could even go days without touching my phone if I don’t have a reason to and that’s just me. I wouldn’t be able to say some for others because we all have our interests. But one thing we all should know amidst all this social media frenzy is that life actually goes beyond spending all our day on our screens. Life is all about living in the moment.

Having a prolonged screen time is not advisable. Most times, we need to control our gadgets else it will control us
That’s very true
It's good you have control over your phone usage and know when to put it down to face other physical activitiess.
