Risk Is a Lifestyle: Here’s My Latest Leap

Last weekend, I was at a hangout with some friends and we decided to play a game which required you to pick a paper with any question and answer. It got to my turn and my question was, what is life to you? My answer was, life is a risk worth taking and this got everyone laughing. At the end of the day, I ended up having to answer so many questions because of this answer.

Most things, if not everything we do on the daily basis is a risk. Even we staying at home is a risk so why not just go out, risk your life and hustle. Human beings were not created to just want or have things the easy way. And even if we could have things the easy way, not everyone would have things that way because obviously, we all can’t be on the same level. Someone has to drive that Benz and someone needs to be at the washing bay waiting to wash it. Another person needs to sell food for this Benz owner to buy and eat and it’s the same way another person needs to also be at the fuel station to fuel this Benz for its owner. That’s just how life is meant to be. We can’t be basking in the soft life. Some of us have to take risks and when I say risks, I mean huge ones.

Speaking of risks, I know we’ve all had to take some at some points in life and if you have not, you will soon. I’d say I’m a very huge risk taker because after all, what’s the worst that could happen. I remember better on some silly stuff with my feeding money with my siblings when I was younger. The goal was to win the bet and get all the money. But you know, there were days I feasted and there were days when I was the feast. But we always come back stronger.

Being an adult isn’t easy at all. I can’t believe no one told me or even warned me. I just woke up one day and I’m here, but I can’t go back to where I came from because this is what I asked for. In my not so big adult life, I’ve had to take so many risks that brought me this far but the most recent risk I took could have taken me to the grave if things hadn’t worked out well. It was all for a good cause.

So, basically, my colleagues and I at some stage in growing our startup faced so many challenges , especially with our funds and investors. But then, you can’t alway wait on investors because we need to work to keep the company running and that’s when we had to make the hard choice of something called ‘slim in the game’. It’s basically about investing anything or possibly all or whatever you have in the business and this investment would be repaid back to you sooner. We knew it had to be done even though we’ve been doing it for a year now.

But the things we needed required so much money so we had to find ways and means to raise this money by hook or crook. People broke their savings boxes while others broke their banks. No heads or bottles were broken though. But we managed to raise the money and it did keep us on our feet. With this money, we managed to secure some collaborations and some investment to keep us going. And as we speak today, that money we invested into our company has changed a lot for us today and it was a risk I’m so proud I took and I’d do it again.

Life is a risk, anywhere we find ourselves, life at that moment becomes a risk. We risk to survive.

In life, there is risk every where. All we can do is to flow with it, and learn how to learn from it when it backfires
