Levels Don Change: When Friends Outgrow Each Other

Most of the people we played with way back in pre school and primary school are obviously not the same people we are rolling with today. Aside special instances where individuals have managed to hold on to their friendships for the longest time, the bitter truth is that 50% of the worlds population don’t know the whereabouts of most of their mates from way back. Does this mean that they have left their friends because they’re better than them? Obviously not. If I should meet my classmate from primary school today, I would hug them and we would chat and laugh so much about all that happened in the past.

Life isn’t meant to be stagnant for any of us and that’s why they say people come and go. Not everyone is meant to stay in our lives, be it family, friends or whoever. Today, I don’t boast of having many friends and the few I have , some have I have known for years and others I met not so long ago. I’ve equally lost so many friends of mine for one or two reason and also lost touch with other friends. It isn’t because one person felt proud because of their accomplishments or their riches, life just happened to send all of us to different parts of the word.

I for one have a lot going on in my life already and I don’t you I wouldn’t even realize it if a friend of mine decides to cut me off. We are no longer kids- everyone is out there trying to make something out of their lives. It’s not easy for anyone out there, some people are trying to just survive. And someone somewhere will now think that you’re ignoring them because you’re rich or have some wealth. At our age, we no longer have that much time on our hands to sit and have unnecessary chit chat with our friends. Only the lazy or those who have all they need in life will have such time because I know for sure that the average youth trying to earn a living barely has time for himself.

There are day I call my closest friends and family and they’re unable to answer. They even sometimes forget to call back and so I have to call again. This doesn’t mean they’re better than me. I understand that they also have things going on for them in their lives. Some friends and family also call me sometimes and I’m unable to answer or even get back to them sooner. And we all understand that it’s just life. When we have time, we check up on each other, talk and wish each other well.

There are people I thought I would walk every step of this life with and today, I don’t even know where they are. People do fall apart for so many reasons. I’ve lost touch with some people because our goals don’t align, I also had to let go of other people because they were no good to my growth as an individual. There’s no hard feeling about this. Life has to go on anyway and everyone wishes the best for himself. I wouldn’t hold anything against anyone for not wanting to associate with me because we all have our own opinions and I believe every decision we wake as individuals for ourselves is for the best.
