How Did We Get Here?

In our world today , there’s a lot going on that some of us just can’t seem to wrap our heads around. In the city where I’m currently staying, there have been a surge in the cases of infidelity over the past two months.

Between November last year to today, we have reported about 4 cases of cheating and a whole lot of drama. And the funny part is, all these cases involve married people. The most recent one was that of a lady who happens to be a student in one of the universities here. This lady apparently is married to a good man who takes very good care of here. But apparently, this lady has been cheating on her husband with a fellow class mates of hers and she was caught red handed with him in their matrimonial bed.

The husband didn’t even react or cause commotion. What he simply did was ask the guy if he knew the lady was married and the guy said he didn’t know. So, it either the guy genuinely didn’t know or he knew and decided to ignore. At the end of the day, the husband requested this side guy pay back the bride price he paid to marry the lady and have the lady to himself. That didn’t end things there. Can you believe this lady had the audacity to hop on a TikTok live in the heat of everything to try to justify herself. I mean what has the world come to? There’s literally little to no respect for this institution called marriage anymore because it’s one thing for people dating to cheat but a married person cheating, that’s some top level disrespect to yourself and your partner.

I’ve never been one to support cheating in any kind of relationship and I don’t think anyone in their right senses would. But then again, everyone would do what they want to do. Regardless, let’s at least learn to respect the institution of marriage. We are adults and so let’s act as such. If you do not love the person or don’t want to be in the marriage anymore, you can just decide to walk out of the marriage and no one would stop you. Don’t stoop so low because you’re desperate. Choose you and do the right thing.
