From Respect to Reality Check

I’m someone who always makes sure to always be in my lane and stay out of trouble. However, I’m a people’s person on a normal day. I love talking to open minded people and having impactful conversations with them.

I don’t have many friends but the ones I have are more than I could ask for. My friends know the kind of person that I am and they respect that. I always stand up for what is right no matter what or who. Aside all these, I love to meet new people and also make new friends. That’s how I became friends with a friend of a friend through so many hangouts we’ve been having together.

I’ve been friends with this guy for over a year now and our relationship has been good. Anytime we hang out, we have great conversations which are very impactful. Know that, during that time this guy didn’t really have a stable job. Let’s just say he was living by the day. Fast forward, he got a job which pays well. One day he asked for us to hang out and I was down for it. We met and all of a sudden this guy starts to talk about women. The first statement he made was that now he’s practicing toxic masculinity and I’m like who’s teaching you that.

And he went on to say that women think that we are special but we are not. And his reason was that if everyone is special, then no one is special because then, there would be no value on being special. In that moment I just told myself that this person person wasn’t being serious. It kept going on and on to the extent that he said women think they are smart but we aren’t. At that point I wasn’t having it anymore. It was more like this person was being misogynistic and also having a low mindset. He can have his low mindset, not really my problem but you don’t get to talk about women that way.

I told him the truth and we parted ways. I was so disgusted, hell, disgusting is even an understatement. I wanted to vomit because how could a grown ass person say such things. No sort of respect whatsoever. I left him with a statement- next time you think women are not smart, remember that kids get their intelligence from their mothers- and that was the last time I every spoke to him. I’m not going to tolerate such talks in my life because I’m not that kind of person. At the end of the day, I lost all respect I had for him as a friend and a human being because he didn’t know respect to his fellow humans.

Hmmmm.
He could be joking though.🫣
But the way you sounded, it appeared there was no joke.
Lol😅

I'm envious of people that converse on 'impactful' topics. I always go about the humour and jokes

You should have asked him who hurt him because it’s obvious he was speaking from a place of pain. May he heal soon.

He can say whatever he wants, but not to me. Ha!😂
If he likes he shouldn’t heal.

That was a hot one you left him with. I guess he might have had to ruminate on it. He was wrong speaking in such a way though, even for the fact that you're a woman sitted there. I would say he was perhaps under some influence, but it might seem so from what you shared. Hope he fixes his mind.

That’s his problem, really. Cos he’s a grown man and I expect him to know right from wrong.
