Believe it or not, politics is a dirty game. Why do I say so? I don’t know for other parts of the world but in Africa where I find myself , I’ve seen family turn into enemies because of politics. People are being butchered like animals , young people engaged in so much violence all because of politics.

Right from primary school, we are engaged in politics up until university and on into the real world. You know how you’re asked to vote for your school prefect in primary school, junior high and senior high and then in the university we have the SRC where you meet people who are more hungry for power than what you witnessed at the lower levels. Funny thing is, when we were younger, we didn’t know it was politics. Hell, some of us didn’t even take it seriously but when you look deeper you realize that even at those stages there were fishy activities going on to favor some of our mates. That’s where corruption started, right in our faces.

I’ve not really been that invested in politics throughout my life and to think I didn’t even want to get into a talking stage with a guy who was into politics is funny to me now.😂 That’s how much I hate politics. I have voted once in my whole life in the national elections in my country and even with that, my dad had to force me to the center to vote. Honestly, I really really regret casting that vote because that one person you think is capable will turn out to be worst of them all.

I have so many friends are are engaged in politics and they’re really doing well. I’m currently working with one guy who is pursuing and career in science and politics as well and he’s doing very well. Anything is possible when you put your mind to it and work towards it. One thing about me is that, even though I don’t like politics, I don’t criticize those who are into it. Everyone is free to do whatever they want and obviously we all can’t like the same things. Sometimes I try to avoid political conversations which are going to lead to heated arguments. What do I even know about politics to the extent of arguing.😂 I don’t see myself liking politics or even having a career in it anytime soon because of the risks involved.

What ill of politics will you want to change?

Politics has it positives and negatives but I’d like to believe the negatives outweigh the positives. Some of the things I’d want to change in politics is first, the corruption level. Most of the African leaders today are so corrupt and as things are now, they don’t have any plans of changing. If I had the power to reduce the corruption level in Africa, I sure will.

The other negative I’d like to change about politics is the insecurity involved. Somewhere last week, I read an article about how 4 people were sentenced to death by a court judge for an attempted coup in Ghana. What at all would make someone go to this extent, all for power? Even the effects of coup on our country wouldn’t be something we will wish for as a people. If I had my way, we’d just do away with politics and live our lives normally and elect responsible and visionary leaders to lead us. But I don’t make the rules , so it is what it is!
