Enpowering The Next Generation: Ready, Set, Future!

One thing I hold very dearly to my heart is empowering our young ones in society. We say our kids are the future leaders but what do we see today? Our siblings, cousins , sons and daughters in primary and senior high schools receive little to no guidance and motivation.

The past weeks have been very hectic for me as my team and I have been putting measures in place to impact the lives of our young ones in senior high schools in Northern Ghana. After so many days of ups and down, yesterday, our road finally led us to the Kalpohin Senior High School.

I had so much on my plate but since that was the only time the school could squeeze for us, I also had to squeeze my schedule, you know how we do it around here.😄 We received a very warm reception from the teachers and administrators of the school and as we waited for everything to be put in place , we had a little interaction with the teachers and other staff about our plans for the future. Clearly, I could see that these teachers wanted the best for their students because even the way they treated them said a lot.

Finally, all was set and we had the opportunity to share our little ideas with these students. We had a list of things we wanted to touch on which comprised of how to be self confident, leadership and communication,fostering growth and positive mindset, overcoming academic barriers , career guidance and exploration among others. We took turns interacting with the students and I was really amazed by how much some of these students knew. Most of them knew what they wanted to achieve in a few years time, they had a plan to get there, the could identify the barriers in their journey and so much more.

We also carried out some activities to help them fully grasp our message. Questions were asked, tips were shared, we offered guidance to everyone , we laughed so much, showed love and appreciation and finally we danced. If you’ve schooled in Africa you should know how senior high school students don’t let any opportunity to dance go away cos they don’t get that more often. 😄

At the end of the session, I could see these students had been impacted and their lives wound never be the same. They were motivated and educated to do better for themselves because failure is not an option. For me, it was a great win to able to impact the lives of others. I didn’t get this opportunity when I was in senior high school so this is a step to change the narrative for our future generations. This doesn’t stop here, we plan to visit more and more senior high school so that in the future we can look back and say, YES WE DID IT!
