Electricity in My Location: The Good, The Bad, and The Frustrating
If there’s anything I cannot live without aside oxygen, then it’s electricity. Once the lights go off, it’s like I cease to exist and everything around me comes to a halt. This is because almost everything I do relies on electricity.
Over the years, Ghana has been struggling so much with the issue of electricity. Our major source of power supply is the Akosombo dam here in Ghana and at this point, I can say it can’t fully supply the whole country with steady power. On most days, we experience power outages especially now that we are in the dry season and place is hot.
Some years back, we had serious power issues to the extent that people would literally have power for a day and not have the next day until the government eventually came out with a time table for every neighbourhood. At least ,that way we could all prepare accordingly. Here in Ghana, we all jubilate when the power comes back on after a while of it being off. This is because we don’t get to experience 24/7 power supply all the time.
Sometimes we get it and other times we don’t due to one or two reasons. But these days, I’d say it’s much better. The least we can go without power is 20 minutes and if works need to be done which would require the power to be out for a while, the electricity company sends out announcements ahead of time so we can all know the schedule.I know my Nigerian brother @fashtioluwa cannot relate.😹
Also, we have now transitioned from using post paid meters to prepaid meters now and I must say, it’s really expensive but I guess they say it’s for the best. The only issue I would say I have with the power supply currently in my country Ghana is probably the petty power outages we have here and there. I know we are still developing and these things are sometimes bound to happen. But I hope it gets better with time.

It's like this power supply challenge is a worldwide thing, I haven't seen anyone who doesn't have challenges with power supply but at least yours is better now than we the Nigerians, the terrible band of a thing is frustrating people's life.
Let’s hope for the best.
sure I really appreciate you coming around
I can feel your pain because the situation in your country is not far different from mine. I think we only needs to pray and hope for the development as you said.
Thanks for sharing...
Our leaders need to do better
Very true, unfortunately they are more interested in themselves than the people
It’s a shame
😂😂😂😂 You are lucky that our light has been out for two days, if not I would have seen this post on time and given you the necessary feedback, but I will let this one slide again.
Just be happy sha, but you already confess to not having 24/7 electricity so we are almost birds of the same feathers, just that some colors are different. hahahaha
Haha, true. Even today I didn’t have light the whole day. It just came this evening
Aww
Sorry about that
I know how frustrating it can be
It is well
