Climate Change: Hype or Harsh Reality?
There’s no life without problems. And there’s also no life without good things. Everything goes both way in life and that’s how come we can’t always have things going on well for us. Sometimes things might be good and sometimes things might be bad.
However, sometimes we tend to cause problems which are very difficult to get rid of on our own. Taking a look at our world, this world is ours yet what we have done to our world today is nothing to write home about. Over the years, the issue of climate change has becomes really alarming and this has led to countries and associations doing all they can to manage climate change because we have only one world. Where are we going to go when we finally mage to ruin this one.
Speaking of climate change, every part of the world has felt it over the years. I moved a way from home a few years ago to a new place. Moving from the south to the north has been a huge change for me, I most confess. I always use to hear that the season here were something else due to the location but I didn’t think it was as extreme as they said it would be. As you probably know, we have two seasons in Ghana which are the rainy season and due season. In the south where I grew up, it was moderate but in the north where I currently am, it’s extreme.
The first year time I experienced harmattan here , I almost lost it. It was so cold and hot at the same time. The dry season was worse, I literally couldn’t sleep on my own bed because the bed was as hot as hot can be. The water was hot like boiled water and I had to resort to bathing with ice cubes. The raining season was also rainy. It could rain for 3 days non stop. It was really unusual to me.
But a few years down the line, we are having no rain in the rainy season, the seasons are coming either later or earlier than expected and whole lot. This has led to flooding and drought at different times of the year. Two years ago, food was hard to come by because there were no rains. The little food in system was very expensive , yet what choice did we have. We had to eat but our pockets were affected hugely at the end of the day. But we forgot that all these are happening because of our day to day actions which we think might not have effects on our environment. But sadly, they are.
I most say, things are getting a bit better recently as there are so many campaigns on climate change and how to make our environment and living conditions better for us all. And I hope this continues now and forever for the betterment of our globe.
I hope you enjoyed reading this. Thanks for your time.
