Can You Really Swim, or Are You Floating by Faith?

There are a lot of things in this life that are unpredictable. That thing that you think can never happen to you will happen at the time you never imagined. It’s just like there being so much drama in school on that day you decide to miss school. And I know we have all experienced that in one way or the other and the regret was something else.

Know how to do some things in this life isn’t a choice but a must. For example, cooking, cleaning and other basic chores should be something we all know our way around with little to no effort. Away from that, hobbies are also important. We Africans don’t really have hobbies and my fellow countrymen would agree to that. The only times we had hobbies were when we were way younger and even with that, we were forced to age hobbies like playing ampe and other games because our parents wanted to get us to stop worrying them.

I’ve always been that curious kid and I actually did grow up into a curious person. There’s so many things I’ve tried out in this life of mine and when I think about it now, I could have died a long time ago but thank God for life, I’ve made it this far. I’ve taken so many risks all in the name of exploring and having hobbies and my parents have spoken and spoken until they gave up on trying to convince me to stop risking my life.

Among the many things I’ve done in my life, a few of them include zip lining, going on walkways where I could have does , going on a boat cruises in weird places and many more. But nothing prepared me for the first time I decided to swim. I have always loved the beach but I’ve never been brave enough to swim but lo and behold, my friends managed to get me to swim on one of our trips to the beach. No cap, the water almost carried me away that day but God gave me another chance to live.

Subsequently, I stared swimming more in swimming pools with my friends until I got a bit better at swimming and actually lived the part of me that loved water so much. It’s actually been a while I swam but if I find myself in water and my life was at stake, all my swimming skills would kick in and I’d swim my way to safety because in that moment, it’s fight or flight and I would have no time to slack because I haven’t even lived half of my life yet.

Swimming is actually easy and tough at the same time but it’s better to have the skill and not need it that not have it and need it. As much as it can be a hobby, it’s also a must because we all don’t know when water would decide to carry us away. Make sure you’re not left behind.
