Breaking Free: My Anti-Boredom Hacks

They say the devil finds work for the idle and we can all bear witness to that. Personally, I don’t have a word like boredom in my dictionary on a normal day because my days are always packed. I always plan my days ahead and I make sure to use every minute of my time doing something beneficial.

But, there’s always those days when we have nothing to do. For me, it’s mostly the weekends. I have allocated my weekends for resting but I don’t even get to rest that much as my weekends have also been taken up over the past few weeks. Regardless, I’ve been bored so many times before and I can tell you, boredom is a disease. Knowing myself, I know that boredom eventually leads to depression for me and so I try my best to always be busy no matter what.

For someone who’s always active and busy, boredom is a slow killer for me and it gets worse with time. In the past, when I get bored I would just go online and keep scrolling through God knows what non stop but truly , that’s not really my thing. I also tried speaking to my friends and family and that did seem to work to some extent but, not entirely. Eventually, I gave up and fell into the pits of depression and it took so much to pull myself back up.

Now, I know better and have developed better ways to deal with boredom. I believe boredom is a state of mind. Once you allow your brain to be idle and linger around, you’re already halfway there. A step towards doom. I took a break from everything or about a week ago cos I was exhausted and trust me, I haven’t been bored even for a second.

As usual, I plan my day before I sleep so that once I’m up the next morning, I know what I’m up to. I wake up, cook, read, come to hive, talk to people and to the most important part, I exercise. Every evening, I make my way out to get my body up and running and trust me, that’s my number one stress reliever and boredom killer. This might probably not work for everyone but it does for me. I love to keep my body and brain active and even with everything I do, I believe exercising tops everything up for me.

Once I’m back home, I’m already exhausted and I just have my supper, talk to a few people and I’m off to bed in order to be up early the next day. I believe an idle mind is a call for alarm because once you have nothing to do, your mind starts going places you don’t want to go which is something you and I wouldn’t want. So, anything to keep the mind and body busy is what you should go in for. Whether it is work, volunteering, exercising, reading or anything else. Just do it! And leave no room for idleness.

Truly, idleness allows boredom slips in and surfing the internet doesn't seem to work for me. I just end up wasting my data and still struggling to get over boredom.

Getting my mind to become active again works a lot and like every human individual, I have developed my way of waking my mind once it hits idleness.

That’s right, it helps to have your own ways to get rid of boredom.

It is the step of confidence for me.

Once you allow your brain to be idle and linger around, you’re already halfway there.

Word. And its usually the result of not planning effectively. Been there... Never feels good. It's like the peak of being unproductive.

So you plan the day with a pen or your phone?

😂😂depends. I can plan it on my phone or even in my head. Does it really matter?

Boredom is the thing of the mind and for sure can lead into depression if care is not taken. For most of us that are always busy, we still feel boredom as some point especially when we lost track in following through our activities ... boredom might just set in

I believe people who are always busy feel the impact of boredom the most as it feels like a glitch in their daily lives .
