Beyond the School Gate
Moving from the home, a child’s next point of learning is the school. Using myself as an example- I started schooling at an early age of one. I don’t think I could even fully walk them, but I was in school doing God knows what. I’ve spend a literally my entire life in school because honestly, that’s how the system is being built around here. The only time I get to spend with my friends are family are the times I have after school, weekends and holidays. But if we are to rank the hours, I’d like to believe school time takes about 70 percent of a child’s life.
This should tell us that our kids spend more time in school, around other kids and their teachers. And this translates to the fact that the kind of school environment our children find themselves in would impact them in either a good or a bad way. And this is where teachers come home. Teachers are like our second parents because they are there to take care of us, guide us and also teach us during our time in school. Teaching is actually not an easy job but I believe what matters is who the teacher is. I’ve had teachers who made schooling hell for me and also those that made everything feel lighter for me.
But we ask ourselves, does the teachers work end in the classroom? I’d say yes and no, depending on the situation. Students can be very stubborn at times, most especially those in basic school. Outside of school, say when they are on their way home, they tend to engage in petty fights or even pass places they shouldn’t instead of going home straight. As a good teacher who is responsible for your students ,once you chance upon your students doing things that could land them in trouble or in harms way outside of the school walls, it’s your duty to talk them out of it and send them on their way home. Keeping our students safe is our duty, both inside and outside the classroom.

What isn’t the teachers duty is trying to punish a student outside of school. Teachers agents even supposed to beat students in schools anymore. How would students react if teacher should close from school and be going home with canes just because they look forward to punishing some students who are troublesome out there. This really isn’t what a teacher should do outside of the school walls. It’s more like humiliating your students in public and some students might even try to protect themselves by attacking you. Teachers aren’t law enforcement, but rather they are those students look up to. They are those that set an example for their students to follow. Be their safe space even outside of school and not their police force. This way, we get to keep our kids safe both in and outside of the classroom.

A teachers duty should end in school even outside but the present parents have made it difficult this days
That’s another point.
