Beyond the High: A Personal Account
Thanks to four years of studying biochemistry, I know what drugs constitute and their mechanism of action in the body. For most of the stuff we take drugs for, we really don’t need drugs. Most of the petty petty issues we face all arise mostly from our lifestyle. Mere headaches can be prevented by resting more, keeping hydrated eating well and even exercising. But guess what our first resort to such is? Pain killers!
I’ve met people who have lost friends and family to drug overdose which is sad. Personally, I’ve also had my own encounter with drugs in the past and I learnt my lessons. So, there was this one period I was experiencing severe headaches for almost a week. That wasn’t the first time though, it’s something that happens to me most of the time but it just goes away on its own. But, this one was persistent for a while and I couldn’t bear it any longer.
I walked into the pharmacy and bought a pack of Gebedol which is a pain killer. With painkillers, one tablet is enough for me but on this day, my dose was 2 tablets 3 times a day. I took the first set after my meal in the morning and by lunch I wasn’t seeing any results. For someone who doesn’t have patience, I ended up with an empty pack by 6pm that day. And you’d think it even made things better, it even made things worse . Eventually , I just had to go to bed.
I had overdosed and waking up the next day was a problem for me. I was out for most of that day and it was only when someone knocked at my door I was able to wake up and realize what was happening around me. I had missed calls from my family and when I finally returned them, they said I scared the hell out of them as I haven’t been reachable for a number of hours. This experience was enough to keep me away from drugs for years now.
Now , I’m living a healthier life with little to no health issues which is great. I drink a lot of water, exercise regularly and even go for checkups which wasn’t really my thing in the past. Health they say is wealth so we must make sure to protect our health at all costs. Drugs are only there to help us short term, so, let’s not rely too much on them for every little thing because whatever goes into your body can make or break you. Instead. Lets forcus on living a healthy life and I bet you, you wouldn’t have a need for drugs on most days.

You made a good decision, staying away from drugs, since they must be supplied under strict medical supervision, from specialists or people who are very experienced in it (I am part of the third group, "the veterans"). I can imagine what it means to your friends and family not being able to communicate with you, it caused them a lot of stress.
The important thing about that teaching is that you learned that with drugs you not only harm yourself, but you harm other people, so I think the lesson was very clear to you, and I congratulate you for that.
Don't take drugs, just eat one !PIZZA
I agree with you. Drugs can be good and bad to us at the same time. We just need to take care.

Sometimes we abuse drugs without even knowing we are doing that, I deed drugs is not for everyone.
You’re right.
I think many people are ignorant of this fact, the reason why a lot of people don't even consider lifestyle changes for improved health and just go straight to drug use for every symptom.
I hope that with time, be see the light.
Drug overdose isn't somewhat good in any way at all and that's the main reason why we should always following the doctor's or pharmacy prescription. I am glad you have learnt from all these and you are now focusing on living a more healthy life.
Very focused.😂
