Beyond Optics: Does Your Donation Actually Make a Difference?

In a world full of people from different backgrounds and with different personalities, it’s more than obvious that as much as we have good people on earth, we also have bad people. You’d be surprised to find out the number of bad people on this earth would outnumber good people because everyone of us has an iota of badness in the no matter how much we deny it.

We have all stolen meat from our mother pot when you were younger and in as much as it was a bad thing, we still did it regardless because we had the urge for it or should I say we lacked self discipline. But that we are older, I see no reason why we should cheat others all in the name of hustling. I know people and have worked alongside people who always want to dupe others at the little chance. And honestly, it’s very bad and shameful to see people doing such things. For someone like me, there’s no one such people would succeed in cheating me because there’s no way you can outsmart me unless I have decided to overlook it.

Charity has been a part of human nature for so long. I grew up seeing people give out money and other gifts to others as a way of support. I equally had to contribute during my time in primary and high school to get fruits and stuff for classmates who were sick. To add to that, even in our places of worship, we also give out money to support the needing most at times. This shows the spirit of togetherness we have as humans because what is a human being worth if he can’t help his neighbour.

One thing I believe in is giving with a good heart, no matter how small what you’re giving us. I always try my best to help those in need when I can because there’s blessing in giving than receiving. There’s always who sides to everything and giving out charity is no exception. The first part is the giving part - people contributing towards a common cause and then the second part where those in charge of making everything a come to play. And if I’m to be honest, most people can’t be trusted when it comes to this second part because there’s a high chance that only 5/100 people would actually not try to have their own cut out of whatever was contributed.

Some people either cut down on the budget and pocket it while others hold back on some items they are supposed to give out . I understand that everyone of us is selfish to some extent but how selfish can one be to the try to steal money or goods intended to be used for a donation. I guess not everyone as a conscience and that’s fine. For most of these donations I contribute to, I trust that the leaders would play their parts and not try to cheat the system and obviously, I’d expect to see some evidence of the event even though it doesn’t really matter because I have done my part. The only time I would actually follow such has event boot for boot is when I know the organizers have a history of cheating or not carrying out the said activities.

But really, I don’t really bother myself with such stuff because what goes around, comes around. If you cheat someone today, you’d be robbed a billion times to tomorrow. This is just the rule of life.

There are some who don't even cut down on budget, they just take the whole thing like everyone is blind and won't notice..
