Abortion: Readiness , Choice & Responsibility

I’m yet to meet someone who was thrown down from the skies but I doubt that day will ever come to pass. This means that each and everyone of us was born into a family by our parents, who raised us into the great people we are today. Life is beautiful and with life comes so many experiences such as the joy of having your own children.

Pregnancy is a whole journey of its own where both parties are required to be actively involved because it isn’t an easy journey. I have seen my friends, aunties and even my mom pregnant before and I can tell you that pregnancy is no joke. The morning sickness, the sleepless nights and so on up until that day you will push your baby into this earth. Pregnancy is beautiful, but nothing good comes easy.

Pregnancy involves two individuals, aside some of the stories we have seen on the Bible. However, in most cases today, one parties disappears when the issue of pregnancy arises. Let me gist you about the story of someone I know around here. Apparently, she had a sugar daddy who she got pregnant for. I don’t know if she tried to trap him with the pregnancy or it just happened but she did get pregnant at the end of the day and the man rejected the pregnancy as he had his son wife and kids elsewhere. This lady wanted to abort because she didn’t have the means to take care of the child. But she found out she was going to have twins. After finding out, she still wanted to go on with the abortion but a colleague of mine told her is she aborts the kids she was going to lose her life.

Mind you, this colleague of mine isn’t the lady’s healthcare provider and so I don’t know the basis upon which she gave her that advise. The lady is heavily pregnant now and all the man does is send money. He never shows up. This story is the story of many whom we may or may not know. Abortion isn’t a good thing, both religiously and in our human lives we live. This is because people are somewhere praying for kids and people have them and want to get rid of them. As much us majority of our community don’t agree to abortion, in some cases it is very necessary. In instances where the mother’s life is at risk , the child has a congenital defect. In other cases, if the mother or both parents feel and think they aren’t ready to have children they can abort because no one wants to or should even bring a child into this earth a make them suffer.

When it also comes to women making the decision of getting an abortion without the other party involved, it can get very tricky. Some people may argue that the man has a say in it but others will say the lady is the only one who has a say in it. For me, I’d say it’s subjective and it really depends on the situation. A pregnant woman with no man in the picture can abort a baby because she knows she can’t take care of the baby or doesn’t have the means to raise a child. But when it comes to married couples, it depends on a lot of factors.

At the end of the day, the goal is to have kids we can care for to the maximum. Abortion is risky, especially when it’s done the wrong way, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be done the right way. This is not the time to judge others but the time to help others make the right decision for themselves and their kids.
