What If We Could Control the Weather with Our Mood?
Imagine waking up in a bad mood and suddenly the sky becomes moody, thunder rumbles and it begins to rain, or you wake up happy, the sky was dark but because you are happy, the weather brightens, in a few seconds, the sun begins to shine bright or even a rainbow appears. What if we can control the weather with our emotions? Would it be a dream or a disaster?
We often say, "The weather matches my mood", what if it was literally true? Would it be fun or would the world turn into a complete chaos? For me, it would be some sort of adventure, a catastrophic one indeed.
In Nigeria, for example, the heat in the east can be unbearable. The sun feels like it is sitting right on our heads, and even breathing feels difficult. Then one morning, I wake up feeling angry, or someone else wakes up crying. What happens next? The weather shifts to match our moods. Dark clouds gather, and suddenly, the rain starts pouring down, cooling everything and giving us the much-needed break.
Think about how unpredictable life would be. Mondays will always be rainy because it is the beginning of a new work week, and Mondays are the biggest nightmares of employees. Exam days would always come with hailstorms and thunderstorms, perfectly matching the cries and murmurings of students. But weekends???? Oh, weekends would be the brightest and most beautiful days.
What about heartbreaks??? you wouldn't even want to imagine.....One moment, the sky is normal, and then BOOM! dark clouds roll in like an unwanted visitor. The wind starts howling, matching the sighs of the heartbroken. suddenly, a thunderstorm begins, not the regular thunderstorm you know, but one that is so aggressive that even the rain falls sideways. and just when you think it's over, the sky lets out a loud sorrowful thunderclap, probably the sound of their favorite love song playing in their head.
And if the heartbreak is extra bad like "I just got dumped after planning our marriage in my head", then we'll expect an emotional disaster. The heaven will be one and a heavy rain will pour for hours, the cat and dog type.
Umbrellas? totally useless.
And let's not even talk about the toxic on and off relationships. One minute, it is storming, another minute the sun is shining like nothing happened. The weather will be just as confused as their relationship status.
Now imagine a breakup happening at a wedding.... definitely, there would be a tornado at the altar, the type that leaves everyone scampering away, mothers calling to their kids and fathers trying to protect their family members.
If emotions truly controlled the weather, life would be both an adventure and a complete disaster. One person's happiness could bring warmth and sunshine, another person's sadness might summon dark clouds and rain. Stress and frustration might stir up strong winds and deep sorrow could create endless storms.
With Billions of people feeling different things at the same time, the world would be in a constant state of change, every second, somewhere, someone is happy, another is experiencing heartbreak, excitement, or disappointment. The skies wouldn't be able to settle. Moods shifting throughout the day would mean weather changing unpredictably, making it nearly impossible to plan anything. Would the morning start off bright and clear, only to turn into a thunderstorm by midday because someone somewhere was having the worst day of their life?
If emotions truly controlled the weather, life would be wild, people would even fake happiness just to keep the sun shining. Imagine walking down the street and everyone is grinning from ear to ear like they just won a lottery, all to avoid a thunderstorm. Customer service agents would become national heroes, keeping the sky clear with their forced politeness.
On a normal day, you wouldn’t catch a customer agent being that nice, but now? They would be out here saving the world with fake smiles and "I completely understand your frustration, sir." Because the moment one of them snaps and says, "Oga, go and read our terms and conditions," a thunderstorm will strike immediately
In the end, life would be full of surprises, a mix of sunshine, rain, and total confusion. No need to check the weather forecast anymore, just watch people’s faces, if your boss is frowning, better carry an umbrella. That one friend who changes their mind every second? Bring both sunglasses and a raincoat. And if your ex suddenly texts you out of nowhere? Start building an ark. A serious heartbreak? flood is coming 😂
